to be pissed off that I'm being charged for the snow days

Children's nursery closed for the 2 snow days a couple of weeks ago and nursery have made the decision to charge for those days.

I feel really pissed off as I had to take unpaid leave + make time back in lieu.

I have two under three so it's not bloody cheap either!!

Apart from this I couldn't be happier with them. It's a wonderful nursery. They're worth every penny we pay them but I'm really naffed off they charged for this!

I'm being unreasonable, aren't I?

I'm pretty sure the NHS would still have had to pay the company I work for during the snow days.. nice little profit.

I'm pretty sure that the NHS lawyers wouldn't agree to a contract that stated they needed to pay even if the company didn't provide the service.

You should not have to pay for the nursery closing. They made the choice to close. They are a business and and like any business they would have to take this hit. You can check your contract, but would be surprised if you had to pay for their closures.

The argument that the nursery has overheads and therefore shouldn't take the hit applies exactly the same to the customer.

We jus got told this week that our Nursery would also be charging for the earlier snow days too (also have 2 under 3yrs so £160 here too). Was discussed by the govenors, it wasn’t safe for them to open as staff couldn’t get there (so no ratios), no kitchen for cooking or caretaking/cleaning facilities (joint venue). I did go “humph” but it’s in our terms and conditions. Jus hope for no more snow days!
