This is a quote of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon has a number of quotes when Read through the lens of Trump are eerily prescient. Napoleon wasn’t of the same political bent as Trump necessarily, and he was certainly more cerebral, but the lust for power is the same.

It starts in about 40 mins a according, to a tweet someone just sent to Trump (to helpfully remind him when it’s on) Grin

boatyardblues · 25/03/2018 23:30

Ha ha ha. Now my dilemma: stay up and watch the internets for the lolz and feel shit tomorrow, or recognise the clocks went forwards this morning and I’ll be getting up at stupid o’clock tomorrow as it is...

lettuceWrap · 25/03/2018 23:33

Same dilemma in our house. Probably bed before it starts, if we decide to be sensible... Grin

For me it starts in 2.5 hours! (US West Coast time)

It's going to be interesting, but I think they're going to play it a bit close to the vest. They aren't going to want to give Scrotus' legal team too much info ahead of the 'discovery phase' in legal proceedings.

I think there will be more 'titillation' than 'tipping of the hand'.

lionheart · 25/03/2018 23:45

You can say things without saying them, I suppose.

boatyardblues · 25/03/2018 23:45

OK, that’s persuaded me to go to bed. Grin

A piece from The Guardian on the ever-increasing and insidious presence of the Fox network in the White House.

Anderson Cooper: What if the president never reimbursed Michael Cohen?

Trevor Potter: Then he is still out on the line, having made a illegal in-kind contribution to the campaign.

Anderson Cooper: You're saying this is more serious for Michael Cohen if the president did not pay him back?

Trevor Potter: Yes. I think that's correct.

lionheart · 26/03/2018 00:24

So you don't have to ...

She's a bright bright woman. They're not going to inveigle her easily into speaking 'out of turn'. Smile

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 26/03/2018 01:26

They're keeping their powder dry, I assume? Trying to provoke a reaction from Trump before turning over another card?

His lawyers (the ones he's managed to retain) are probably sitting on his hands to stop him from firing off a tweet.

Quantumblue · 26/03/2018 01:34

Go Stormy. She really took one for the team.

SPOILER IF U HAVENT SEEN THE INTERVIEW

You know what got to me the most? When she spoke of coming out the bathroom to find him on the bed and thought “Oh, what have I gotten myself into?” Or words to that effect. She says their encounter was consensual, but I think it wasn’t, not really. I think she did it because she thought he was ‘entitled’ to it because after all she came to his room so what else would he expect? That she gave in because it was ‘her fault’. I’m not saying he raped her or ignored a lack of enthusiasm on her part, if there was one. I just think it’s all so sad. I had hoped that we had moved forward a bit since I was last in the dating world 30+ years ago where a man expected a ‘reward’ if he paid for your dinner or you went back to his place for a drink. Apparently not.

That aside, I think she was very credible. But I don’t think this is going to make a dint in his fanbase’s adoration.

cozietoesie · 26/03/2018 01:47

I guess we've all made bad decisions.

TheClaws · 26/03/2018 02:46

I do wonder how the evangelical base will respond. But up to now, they have been apologists for everything and I’m sure will find an excuse for this too. The Breitbart base doesn’t care - I never thought they would. A few are making the moral connection between Trump and Bill Clinton, but note Trump was not in office when this affair took place. The rest? Well, he’s just a man, doing man stuff - who cares? Hmm

Murdoch might. (He has a surprisingly Calvinist streak in him.......)

cozietoesie · 26/03/2018 03:23

He 'done his wife wrong', regardless of the fact that he wasn't in office at the time. That might count quite a lot..............

cozietoesie · 26/03/2018 03:35

Sorry. It might count with the evangelicals. Melania is more popular with them (by far) than even 45.

AcrossthePond55 · 26/03/2018 03:47

But remember that according to the evangelicals Scrotus is God’s Chosen President. Therefore, God must have forgiven him, so they should too. Even though they condemned Bill Clinton to hellfire for his infidelity and declared it make him unfit to serve.

cozietoesie · 26/03/2018 03:51

I should remember that. True. Don't you think there will be any inner questioning, though?

TheClaws · 26/03/2018 04:29

I agree Across. Even if a tiny little niggling doubt occurs, I think it’ll be dismissed with ‘God chose him, even with his faults, so I have no need to question. This is just a liberal distraction, yada yada yada ...’

Don’t think this is what everyone’s talking about, but okay. Looks very amateurish, but I’m sure it’s not one-sided - so “what really happened”, oh no!

.@HowieCarrShow just wrote a book which everyone is talking about. He was a great help. He is a veteran journalist who had a great influence in NH and beyond. He calls it the most amazing political campaign of modern times. The book is called, “What Really Happened.” Enjoy! #MAGA
