This is a quote of Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon has a number of quotes when Read through the lens of Trump are eerily prescient. Napoleon wasn’t of the same political bent as Trump necessarily, and he was certainly more cerebral, but the lust for power is the same.

Rick Santorum seems right up his street, though, cozie Grin

Perhaps they ought to make working in the White House like jury service? All Americans obliged to have a go when it's their turn.

cozie I still think that the Pences won't have sought private assurances from trump because what could he say that mitigates “I just grab em by the pussy”? I’d have thought that they either never discussed it, pretended trump’s weak excuses were robust or openly acknowledge he’s a predator. I don’t think they would bother with the pretence of caring in private when it’s clear who trump is.

Pence secretly drafted Trump’s latest transgender military ban

I have to differ, Pain. I envision a scene with Donald, Melania and the Pences where 45 does his 'Sinner come to repentance' bit - you know, the 'Profligate saved by the love of a Good Woman'. With tears. (From all of them.)

cozietoesie · 25/03/2018 18:31

Heck - I could write the speech myself! Wink

I’d pay to see it if you fancied producing it Grin

Or, perhaps the hope was (and is) that Trump's past would be his undoing, leaving a clear path for Pence to claim the crown and save the day.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2018 19:16

I think that that would be a bit of a demanding thought for the Veep, lion. He's allegedly .......not an intellectual powerhouse. Wink

OuaisMaisBon · 25/03/2018 19:22

Nor's the Prez, cosie, and it’s done him no harm with his redneck, gun toting, foetus saving, Evangelical, base.

lionheart · 25/03/2018 19:30

Okay then. It may be closer to:

'I am clean and so very righteous, pick me!'

cozietoesie · 25/03/2018 19:49

Well. He may be clean these days. Wink

New: Trump's legal team is bigger than it looks; half a dozen ACLJ-linked lawyers have been helping POTUS
Also new: Jay Sekulow told me all lawyers representing POTUS are paid through his private law firm, the Constitutional Litigation and Advocacy Group
Lawyers Andrew Ekonomou and Ben Sisney (who signed a pro-travel ban amicus brief) have been helping POTUS with legal representation, and as has Mark Goldfeder, known for his anti-BDS work

Something’s off when the president can brag about sexual assault and Republicans support him, but a bunch of high schoolers begging to not get shot at school are “disrespectful” in the GOP’s eyes.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2018 21:21

It's about all they can say. The GOP are FUBAR'd.

lionheart · 25/03/2018 21:30

Let''s hope they are called to account.

lawfareblog.com/disabled-executive-special-counsel-investigation-and-presidential-immunities

'The press reports that the White House has suffered from “mass hysteria” over the Special Counsel investigation and the president’s responses to it. Our most senior government officials, including our vice president, are hiring lawyers. The Administration is facing difficulties in attracting qualified nominees to fill key positions. The daily White House press briefing is deluged with key questions that the official spokespersons decline to answer and instead refer to the president’s private lawyer. The Special Counsel investigation is now fully underway and media coverage is high-pitched and nonstop. And intense days of coverage are kicked off in the morning by shrill presidential tweets.'

boatyardblues · 25/03/2018 21:35

Surely this level of feverish activity and churn cannot be sustained? Mind you, we've all been saying for months to the point I'm losing hope. But still... It does seem things have kicked up a notch.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2018 21:45

I think they have.

I also disagree (slightly) with Bob Bauer. I think that resignation has a more favourable wind than he gives it credit for.
