I can't be alone in this? It's becoming ridiculous isn't, it?

YesSmile

cucaracha · 14/03/2018 13:57

Hopefully it should be the end of it soon, it's starting to look dated already when even Argos has a grey colour scheme!

I couldn't care less what people chose, but it's very difficult to find something else than charcoal! Why do people want to make their dark interior even darker in this country is beyond me. I guess therapy lights manufacturer make a fortune at the moment.

FizzyGreenWater · 14/03/2018 13:59

I'm currently looking at houses on rightmove in a couple of areas.

If I see one more property 'renovated' by a certain property developer, featuring the exact same dressing of -

charcoal/grey feature walls
loads of grey and silver cushions piled 3/4 of the way down the beds
the same fucking mirrored hall stand thingy - black and silver, natch
grey grey silver grey charcoal silver grey bit of feature oak something

then I will actually email them and say stop renovating properties or I will come to your office and poo on all your desks.

I really will.

FizzyGreenWater · 14/03/2018 14:01

Honestly I am laughing while looking at several properties right now and HONESTLY they have exactly the same furniture in them.

It must have the opposite of the desired effect, surely? Even if you like GREY GREY CHARCOAL SILVER GREY. They all look the same. Oh same sitting room. Same cushions. Click off, I must have seen that one before. Yawn.

HolyGoats · 14/03/2018 14:01

I think we’ve hit peak charcoal. My prediction now will be a nice, dark, lush green. Frida Kahlo seems to be having a bit of a moment with loads of stuff with her face printed on it.

Chocolatewafer · 14/03/2018 14:03

Oh no! We have just put in a charcoal kitchen with white worktops/pale tiles (so the overall effect is still quite light!)

And a greige theme in the new bedroom

I didn’t realise it was so trendy/on the way out 🙈

Still love it though!

Chocolatewafer · 14/03/2018 14:04

And we have brown in the living room... does that help or am I digging a deeper interior hole? 😀

PickAChew · 14/03/2018 14:04

They all have that same dining furniture with seats like white versions of those old moulded school chairs, don't they? The ones that you couldn't fart quietly on, no matter how much you tried to control it after a particularly cabbagey school dinner.

FizzyGreenWater · 14/03/2018 14:05

Lush green and Freida? Oh please yes!

Chocolate so sorry but I am sure yours is LOVELY. Grin

SleepFreeZone · 14/03/2018 14:06

I decided to just go with clsssic kitchen and paint colours and go trendy with accessories instead. Least you can change those.

Thehop · 14/03/2018 14:06

Be nice to see brown for a bloody change

OutyMcOutface · 14/03/2018 14:06

Green is definitely the next greige

Chocolatewafer · 14/03/2018 14:08

In my defence I wanted gullwing grey but we couldn’t afford those units! 😂

I think (hope) we may have escaped the overall look by avoiding gloss units and keeping things quite traditional (no moulded plastic here!)

caperberries · 14/03/2018 14:11

Also thoroughly tired of that F&B Drawing Room blue (and variants thereof...)

And pineapples!

DietCokeGirrrrrl · 14/03/2018 14:11

Literally every 'insta house' I see on Instagram is shades of grey now, along with the obligatory crushed velvet sofa or curtains / mirror tray / white silk hydrangeas in a vase / scented candle / artfully angled blanket. One house account I follow is so monochrome I actually thought she deliberately made her pics black and white until I saw (shock!!!) a green leaf in some white flowers and realised her house actually does look like it's a black and white film.

It obviously doesn't matter what I think as long as the owners are happy bit I'm so ready for this grey trend to end and some colour to sneak back in!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 14/03/2018 14:14

Pineapples?

VictoranCinders · 14/03/2018 14:28

I want to have a bright pink sitting room

cucaracha · 14/03/2018 14:37

oh no, please not green! My living room and my kitchen are green!
(totally different shades, and it does look so much better than it sounds, especially the kitchen tiles print, promise)

I don't want to redecorate just now.

gaggiagirl · 14/03/2018 14:43

My whole house looks like a clown vomited on it. Or maybe it was Mr tumble. Viva colour!

TefalTester123 · 14/03/2018 14:46

In my area houses are having roofs ripped off, lofts developed, previously brick house is rendered, painted all over in white, grey/black windows and grey roof and drive installed.
Reddish brick house becomes monochrome monstrosity, and god forbid the repainting costs on what was previously a low maintenance exterior. Hardly very eco.

Thistlebelle · 14/03/2018 14:58

You’re bored of the decor in other people’s homes?

How odd.

caperberries · 14/03/2018 15:03

So what colour are your walls, Thistlebelle? (Tilts head) Smile

OP posts:
SpringHurryUp · 14/03/2018 15:05

My living room is white and charcoal Grin

Notahappyexpat · 14/03/2018 15:16

I have pale grey furniture - white walls, pale wooden floors and big windows so it’s quite light - also old bits we like & don’t want to change are in there so it’s no where near instagramable

I have bought emerald green cushions & have loads of plants etc and my DH has asked if we are celebrating St Patrick’s day....... will change them to some other colour for winter - everything at the moment is that millennial pink and while it’s nice it’s way too girlie for me

SomewhereInbetween1 · 14/03/2018 15:56

I would love it if racing green came back. It always looks so suave next to white.
