Grey can look nice if it's a well chosen shade and accessorised to break it up, but it has been massively overdone.
Different rooms suit different colours due to their size light and function. I can't imagine having my whole house looking like a dank November day.
I'm definitely not at any cutting edge of interior design, I choose according to the needs of the room. Most of my rooms are various soft shades of a variety of colours although the DCs south facing room managed to take a scarlet/ white combo as it had the light.
A previous owner seemed to have a job lot approach to decor. The DCs room was originally a mid-strength blue... OK with warm south facing light, but hideously dark and oppresive in a large north facing room. I long for the day when I can finally obliterate it with white before deciding how to warm it up.
I'm beige/ stone/ mono-chromed out on bathrooms. We were recently looking for tiles and there was virtually no colour across half a dozen shops
The tiles are quite pleasant, but we face having all bathrooms/ toilets looking very similar as no other choice is avaliable, and once it's done we'll have to live with the consequences for many years unlike paintwork.
