Yes it won’t be exactly the same because of redistricting (I think)

All broke today!

This is from www.thehill.com live updates:

amb lead down to less than 100 votes

Updated at 10:55 p.m.

With 99 percent of the ballots counted, Lamb leads by just 95 votes.

Some absentee ballots will wait until tomorrow

Updated at 10:53 p.m.

The special election will likely come down to the absentee ballots, but two counties won’t count and post those votes until Wednesday morning: Greene and Washington counties.

Greene and Washington counties’ absentee ballots make up about 20 percent of the total 6,951 absentee ballots.

Here's the breakdown of the estimated absentee ballots in each county: Allegheny (3,750), Greene (203), Washington (1,190) and Westmoreland (1,808).

That news comes as Lamb still leads Saccone by a 0.4-point margin, with 98 percent of precincts reporting.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/03/2018 03:11

Absentee ballots are starting to tote up. Lamb now up 847 due to Allegheny Co absentee ballots.

I'm off to watch some Netflix. The final results aren't going to be in by tomorrow morning (local time).

AcrossthePond55 · 14/03/2018 03:12

...in UNTIL tomorrow morning!

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 04:09

Just now, so just after midnight in New York:

#PA18 House special election: 100% reporting
Conor Lamb 49.89%
Rick Saccone 49.51%
Drew Miller .60%
www.electionreturns.pa.gov

Apparently the DCCC are declaring for Conor Lamb though I would imagine that is premature given that narrow margin.

CanadianJohn · 14/03/2018 04:12

At midnight US (EST) time, with 100% of the ballots counted

Lamb 49.8% 113,111
Saccone 49.6% 112,532
Miller 0.6% 1,372

Still saying "too close to call", but it's looking good for the good guys.

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 04:15

Waves at CanadianJohn - are you up late watching ? It's 8 in the morning where I am, so I'm just having my coffee quietly here!

CanadianJohn · 14/03/2018 04:23

Well, I'm in Eastern Standard time, so it's only just past midnight. I rarely watch TV, but browse web news.

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 04:45

CanadianJohn, no idea why I said "watch", as like you, nowadays I get most of my news from browsing the internet!

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 04:55

Pain, thank you for that link about Wikileaks. I am clearly very hard of understanding as my brain hurts trying to work it all out. I don't get why Pompeo would want his Tweet deleted, as it's blaming Obama for everything, isn't it, not Russia? (If you've lost patience with me, please don't worry about trying to explain, I'll just sit in my corner pulling my hair out Grin)

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 05:47

Presuming the special election is so close to call that someone will make a legal challenge for a recount. Extremely puzzled to read this on CNN:
"A Republican official told CNN that Trump, who was raising money with GOP donors in Beverly Hills, California, has been asking for updates throughout the evening and is pleasantly surprised by the narrow margin." WTAF? When Trump won this seat with a margin of 20 points in the 2016 Election?

TheClaws · 14/03/2018 06:03

Ouais re: the Pompeo tweet - he would want that deleted as it shows obvious partisanship and bias at a time when he should have had none, as well as belief in conspiracy theories. (Anyone feel free to correct me if needed.)

TheClaws · 14/03/2018 06:11

From thehill.com

Lamb declares victory

Updated at 12:53 a.m.

Lamb declared victory in a speech to supporters early Wednesday morning, although media outlets still haven't called the race and Saccone hasn't conceded.

TheClaws · 14/03/2018 06:27

Ouais this tweet might make it clearer too. The timelines are wrong - Pompeo was communicating with Wikileaks re:the emails, then Trump, days later, asked Russia about them.

Here is the since-deleted tweet from Mike Pompeo on July 24, 2016 pushing stolen Democratic emails and Wikileaks. Pompeo was head of House Intelligence Commitee at the time. 3 days later, Trump called on Russia “if you’re listening” to get Clinton’s email.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 14/03/2018 06:32

Amazing news about lamb! Cautiously amazing, because it’s not officially declared, but Glitterball

ouais I misunderstood what you were asking and feel terrible for slinging the timeline your way, especially if you tried to absorb it all as 1) it’s a bit much and 2) was completely irrelevant to your question Blush

He deleted that tweet (last year year according to krassenstein though I haven’t verified elsewhere) because after he tweeted that, he became head of the CIA, whose position was that wikileaks was awful and not to be trusted, so him having referenced and promoted it earlier was out of sync with his new public position. So it’s not related to his positions on trump/obama but more on wikileaks, which he then denounced as hostile. That’s my understanding anyway.

This might explain it a bit better and isn’t as onerous to pick through

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 14/03/2018 06:35

theclaws I don’t think he’s ever been head of the house intelligence Committee, though could be mistaken

OuaisMaisBon · 14/03/2018 06:39

TheClaws - thank you, am just wondering when showing partisanship and bias like that has ever been a problem for Trump and his cohorts in the climate they have created? All our standards have been turned upside down and what was once the norm of decent, moral, ethical, behaviour by which politicians were measured has just disappeared into the swamp. I am despairing again. I think I'll just go back to spending my time supporting my student daughter who is actively standing (oxymoron?) in solidarity with the striking UCU staff at her university. It's less demoralising.

Roussette · 14/03/2018 06:50

Good daughter poster Ouais!

For good news, can we cautiously assume Conor Lamb has it in the bag? That will be a boost surely, for everyone who is resisting.

Incidentally, Trump said he was better looking than this candidate at his recent rally.
"And Conor Lamb: Lamb the Sham, Lamb the Sham - I hear he’s nice-looking. I think I’m better-looking than him. I do. I do. I do. And he’s slightly younger than me. Slightly."

I attach pics for your amusement perusal this morning. Make your own minds up Grin
