I am FURIOUS

Ordered the weekly shop and it hasn’t turned up. Delivery time was 3-4 pm. No call to say it wasnt coming
Managed to get hold of them and it’s apparently not coming but they’ve taken the money £194. !!!!!!!

Now I have no shopping and no money to go elsewhere to get any they won’t refund today it will be 2-5 days

Sorry to hear they've been shit for you. AIUI Tesco take payment when the shopping is loaded onto the delivery van, so the driver probably got stuck in severe traffic or worse had an accident. I can see how that would be a big problem if you don't have spare money.

Not the point of this thread but I use ASDA.
I pay £5 a month for delivery and can have as many as I like.
It’s never been late, never had a missing item - substitutes are always sensible. Drivers lovely and will bring shopping wherever you want it. Also brings dog biscuit for ddog who gets very excited to see him each week!
And it’s cheaper than Tesco by miles!

PurplePotatoes · 10/03/2018 21:38

This happened to me with Asda with a £160 shop. They promised me a slot the next day and swore they wouldn't try to take the money twice. They did. I didn't have enough money in for it to come out twice so it didn't turn up again!

ThisLittleKitty · 10/03/2018 21:40

Depends on your area. With asda I had NINE items that apparently weren't available

maggie222 · 11/03/2018 12:44

I have not used Asda since they substituted 9 items and cancelled 22!! If I wanted to go out shopping I would not have ordered online.

Ocado all the way!!

TheRebel · 11/03/2018 16:53

Another one saying Ocado here! They don’t take the money until it’s been delivered and they give you the 5p back for any carrier bag you return, even if it’s not one of theirs. I’ve used them for 3 years and they’ve only been late once.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/03/2018 17:15

I would also recommend Ocado as I’ve never had a problem BUT I have heard of people with the same issue that you e had with Tesco.

I know it’s not possible for everyone but I would always recommend using a credit card for online grocery shopping that way, if there is a problem, you aren’t actually left with no money to buy the shopping elsewhere while you wait for the refund. AFAIK the stores do process the refund straight away but it is the banking system that means it can take a few days to appear in your account.
