Im stuck for what to do with my mom. She doesn't want to go out and she dreads the day since db committed suicide almost 3 years ago.
My mom over the past year, well every year but especially this year has been incredible. I couldn't be more thankful of her.
She deserves an island but I can't afford it. She doesn't want flowers and doesn't eat junk.. I'm stuck for what to do.
Any ideas? What are you ladies doing for your mom's?

Op it has become a new trend to adopt American sayings. It really is not very becoming! Unless you're from the USA/want people to think you are (why?!?!) please use the English language correctly!

Hear, hear - when will you colonials learn??

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/03/2018 15:11

Glad you got sorted OP. Sounds lovely. Was going to suggest a big fluffy dressing gown. Don't laugh. I've just bought one from M and S and it's heaven.

Twocatsonebaby · 06/03/2018 15:14

That's a really good idea, a dressing gown. My mom adores hers! It didn't even cross my mind 😮😀

Taking her to her favourite burger van ! Would have gladly taken her somewhere 'posher' but that's where she wants to go ! Grin

Snowmagedon · 06/03/2018 15:22

I think it's you should spoil her as a much ask you can withing your means, if she protests just say it's not her descion to make proper influence because shes your mum.

Strokethefurrywall · 06/03/2018 15:38

SistersOfPercy - Me too!

All the "Mum not Mom" wankers are out in force, just as we knew they would be!! Twats.

demirose87 · 06/03/2018 15:40

Nothing. I prefer to spend the day with my own children. Might pop in and see her though.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/03/2018 15:46

But Mom is used in Birmingham/Midlands. All those up in arms, maybe you should educate yourselves before kicking off and making yourselves look ignorant Wink

Twocatsonebaby · 06/03/2018 15:49

I'd like to reiterate.. It was from a charity shop. Its still a budget and wasn't too expensive Hmm why does it bother you?

Ugh, there are some really horrible fuckers on aibu.

Additionally, I didn't know that only native British English speakers can contribute, using ONLY British English.

Someone is asking for advice and all some of you can do is post your unpleasant and unnecessary gripes over the use of the word Mom.

I find it laughable how precious some of you are over the infiltration of American English, when so many native British speakers have such a piss poor grasp of the only language they will ever know. Spare your scorn for failing literacy standards. NOT how someone chooses to refer to their mother.

Twocatsonebaby · 06/03/2018 15:55

I just think it's pathetic people feel the need to comment about it on a thread that has nothing to do with it. Why? Why take the time out of your day to give me stick for referring to my mother as 'mom' and not how you like it as 'mum'. I've never called her 'mum'.,
Just says more about those. I get the rug comments. I was expecting those but we are a frugal family and know where to get expensive things from cheaply. Charity and vintage shops.

I've booked an afternoon tea for me and her at a fancy hotel.

But my dad has just phoned to say she has been rushed into hospital so I've no idea what's going to happen now Sad

BackforGood · 06/03/2018 21:19

Aw Crazy Flowers

Glad you got something OP

UNBELIEVABLE MotherofaSurvivor.. Absolutely stunning with your rudeness. I mean when the first pposter showed her ignorance, it was one thing, but to barge into the thread, without reading the previous posts, and then repeat the ignorant gibberish take a whole new level of twerpness.

Twocatsonebaby · 07/03/2018 10:30

They just have nothing better to do. @backforgood just best to ignore them. If that's what they have fun doing than their lives are boring. An @crazy so sorry :( hope she recovers soon x
