I have reported a number of threads recently and the mumsnet response has been 'we don't allow posts that break our talk guidelines' and nothing has been done when the whole thread has been attacking a particular (and vulnerable) group.

AIBU to question these guidelines and how they are applied?

*to me

PositivelyPERF · 05/03/2018 20:34

I would say it's borderline transphobic I would say it’s totally transphobic!

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 05/03/2018 20:38

I have seen some horrific hate comments in trans threads . Really nasty stuff

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 05/03/2018 20:41

I have seen some horrific hate comments in trans threads

Such as?

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 20:42

“I have seen some horrific hate comments in trans threads . Really nasty stuff”

Please can you point them out so we can report them?

TattyTShirt · 05/03/2018 20:44

Lady - please link them as I have obviously missed the horrible, transphobic posts. We all need to report them.

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 20:46

Tatty, I was just quoting stopfuckingshoutingatme’s post... I would love to see these mysterious posts too! Wink

TattyTShirt · 05/03/2018 20:46

Oops! Sorry Lady! You were quoting someone else. Whoever has seen these horrific posts needs to link them. Transphobic posts should be reported

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 05/03/2018 20:47

I have seen a couple of transphobic comments here however I can't link you to them as they were promptly reported and deleted.

MN certainly isn't overrun with transphobic threads though. Far from it in fact as there is often a lot of concern on these threads about how self identification will negatively impact transsexuals.

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 20:48

No worries tatty it’s easy to get mixed up! WinkGrin lol.

TattyTShirt · 05/03/2018 20:50

Lady isn't it strange has we have reached 9 pages with a few posts reporting they have seen transphobic posts but nobody can point us in the direction of these horrific posts? 😏

TattyTShirt · 05/03/2018 20:51

I don't usually put a h in front of as btw! Fat fingers and new phone! 😑

Truscum · 05/03/2018 20:53

I’ve read your posts WappersReturns Flowers

The sick irony of people coming on to this site where we can actually find support and moaning about some intangible transphobia no one seems to be able to point at is laughable.

Quite amusing too how the posters who see all the transphobia simultaneously can never seem to bring themselves to actually read any of the threads or posts.

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 20:56

Well, one of two things must be the case,

Either.
A) these threads/posts never existed
B) Mumsnet promptly deleted for being out of order.

If A) Great! No transphobia
If B) Great! Mumsnet is carefully and quickly weeding out the ocasional instance of transphobia which we ALL abhorr.

What still remains after either of the above scenarios ,is logical, thoughtful, well researched and inclusive debate, that anyone is welcome to participate in and share/debate their views!

abilockhart · 05/03/2018 20:58

One hilarious way many in the thread have of 'proving' they are aren't transphobic is to redefine transphobic and not use the standard OED definition.

Hmm

Oxford English Dictionary:
en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/transphobic
Definition of transphobic in English:
transphobic
ADJECTIVE
Having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people.

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 21:00

“Having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people.”

Ok, where have we done the above?
How does that relate to the debate on Self I.D?

Apologies if I have misunderstood your point.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 05/03/2018 21:00

Luckily no one here hates transsexuals so we're not transphobic.

Nothing to see here people Smile

soapboxqueen · 05/03/2018 21:01

Just checking in to see if anyone has found the terribly transphobic threads/posts/comments that are literally all of the place.
...
Has anyone checked under the sofa cushions? I'll check at the bottom of the washing basket if someone else fancies rumaging through the recycling bin.

Truscum · 05/03/2018 21:02

I thought I saw one flap past the window soapboxqueen but on closer inspection it was just a confused pigeon 🐦

soapboxqueen · 05/03/2018 21:04

Bloody pigeons

JamPasty · 05/03/2018 21:06

I've done the sofa and the bins - nothing here :)

soapboxqueen · 05/03/2018 21:07

Thanks Jam I wonder if dousing rods would work? Maybe a metal detector?

Bumdishcloths · 05/03/2018 21:07

The feminist threads are all going mental over the trans community- 'what's going to happen to women' etc etc. All the faux handwringing is tedious as fuck.

PoppyCherry · 05/03/2018 21:11

I have seen some horrific hate comments in trans threads . Really nasty stuff

Paste a link to one such comment here, would you please?

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 05/03/2018 21:12

Thanks for your well thought out contribution bumcloths. Very Insightful.
