DF was an engineer.

HildaZelda · 04/03/2018 17:30

Mother was SAHM and constantly bitches about working mums today and the fact that they 'should be at home with their children instead of farming them out to crèches'.
She has no idea how the real world works and doesn't realise that economically many mums have no choice but to work.
Father is a farmer.

DollyLlama · 04/03/2018 17:30

Carer and bus driver

EbonyJade · 04/03/2018 18:08

My dad was a mechanic, then an engineer, then a service supervisor in an engine making factory. He's still in touch with many of his old workmates.

My mum was a secretary, then a supermarket worker, now she's a secretary/ receptionist in a small company.
She's 68 but not ready to retire yet.

OublietteBravo · 04/03/2018 18:15

My mum was a teaching assistant (after 20 years of being a SAHM) and my dad was a building services engineer. They've both been retired for almost a decade.

FuzzyCustard · 04/03/2018 18:15

Both teachers.

WhiskeySourpuss · 04/03/2018 18:26

Dad was a bus driver when I was a kid then he moved down south about 16 years ago & was the manager of the meals on wheels place until last year when they made him redundant & now he's retired.

Mum was a SAHM until they divorced & she got a job doing the admin & book keeping for my stepdads business (& obviously ended up marrying him) when he passed away suddenly 10 years ago my step brother took over the business & she retired at 50.

sillyswimmer · 04/03/2018 18:38

Dad was an accounts and data manager for a manufacturing company.

Mom was a secretary, in various different places (car trade and NHS to name a couple)

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/03/2018 18:48

Dad was a welder and mechanical fitter. Mum worked in a shop when I was younger and then started working in schools as a teaching assistant. Dad has retired and mum has got quite a few years left to work.

Dad was a journo, started as a cadet at 15 and retired at 65.

Mum trained as a teacher but as a military wife did various odd jobs. She became a civil servant after dad left the raf.

orangesbananas · 04/03/2018 21:22

My parents were pub landlords for the majority of my childhood. My dad retired after the business went bankrupt and him and DM divorced.
DM went on to run a couple more pubs and then finished up being an assessor for he in hospitality. She is now retired but rents out a room via air BnB.

Longdistance · 04/03/2018 21:28

My dad - factory worker in a car plant (retired after 40 years).

Mum - various jobs in factories, fairly manual jobs.

Really enjoyed my mum working, and proud, as lots of my friends mums didn’t work. Hoping my girls feel the same as I did.
