To think eating a whole tub of ice cream isn’t normal?

LaurenBrye · 02/03/2018 20:12

I don’t like the word normal but I couldn’t think of anything else.

Now I can have my piggy moments and binge.

We were talking about takeaways and a friend said she could easily and does eat an entire tub of ice cream with her dominos pizza.

Do other people do this?

Lovestonap · 03/03/2018 02:22

I could do it easily (yes, even after a pizza).
Normal? I don't know, I think it's more abnormal to watch a friend eat and then post on an Internet forum about it.

(And its really fucking abnormal to pick out chunks for an after dinner treat the following week - wtf is that about?!)

Eating healthy/unhealthy food isn't a moral choice. Its just food.

LemonysSnicket · 03/03/2018 02:42

Fuck off. I do it often, I’m a size 8.

Depends on the metabolism ... it’s not good for you but tbh I’m 22 and it doesn’t affect me like it would my mother. Leave her alone.

LemonysSnicket · 03/03/2018 02:43

Then again I have also once eaten 2 large dominoes pizzas in one evening .. larger appetite, larger stomach, top notch metabolism and an appreciation for running.

OtterInDisgrace · 03/03/2018 02:46

A whole tub of ice cream is very doable but not after a Domino’s Pizza. I think we need to know the size of the pizza

kateandme · 03/03/2018 03:24

why is it have to be normal or not.i think that's the wrong word.perhaps not wise for every day.but who cares,if this is her treat and she can do it,good on her.
come on here judging someone over it.i cant imagine how id feel reading a post like this about me.
body,food shaming not cool

TrueLoveWaits · 03/03/2018 03:29

I've done it, and after a pizza as well. I'm a size 8-10.

ChristmasAddict · 03/03/2018 06:20

DH can and does eat entire tubs of B&J and struggles massively with his weight. It has become quite normal I think, when I was younger a couple of scoops was considered normal.

ChristmasAddict · 03/03/2018 06:23

Just seen the comments about age. DH started doing it when he was in his early 20s and stayed slim. Now he is in his late 20s and can't get away with it anymore Sad

falang · 03/03/2018 06:28

Depends on the size of the pizza but yes. Being able to do this is why I'm fat.

EnglishRose13 · 03/03/2018 06:43

I wouldn't, but then I'm pathetic when it comes to food. My record for eating a Domino's is five slices, but that was just the once. I usually manage two or three then I'm done!

CobraKai · 03/03/2018 06:48

No it isn't normal to eat a pint of ice cream meant to serve four people all to yourself in one sitting. Just because some people seem to do it frequently doesn't mean it's normal.

BiologyMatters · 03/03/2018 06:52

These threads always descend into people competing to see who is the greediest pig and acting like its normal to trough 1000 calories in ice cream.

Just because you're slim, doesn't mean you're not a greedy pig. What possible benefit is there to eating the whole tub as opposed to half of it?

deptfordgirl · 03/03/2018 06:53

I could do it easily but that's why I don't buy ice cream!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/03/2018 07:27

I'm always amazed by the number of people who polish off whole tubs of ice cream/packets of biscuits/family-size bags of crisps. I never eat all of anything by myself that isn't meant to be single serving, and I'm not skinny and have a fairly large appetite. God knows how you all do it without making yourselves sick.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 03/03/2018 07:32

It would have been normal for me in my teens or 20s

I was 6ft, size 10 and could (and did) eat anything. I'd happily have a pint of custard and half a packet of choc digestives for breakfast.

Or three sandwiches for lunch.

Or dinner and then later chips AND ice cream.

Calories did not stick to me. My brother and sister were the same.

Now I am 40s, and along the way I have taught myself healthy eating and a new "normal". But being slim at 47 requires a lot more effort than at 17!

Qcumber · 03/03/2018 07:44

People are being lighthearted about this and that's ok. But I genuinely find it quite shocking that so many people think it's 'normal' to eat an entire tub of ice cream in one sitting. It's not normal at all. It's far too much and I don't think it's judging to say so. It's just common sense. But if it makes you proud to eat a whole tub then crack on Confused

smashyourglasses · 03/03/2018 07:46

BiologyMatters - i have a large appetite and actually wouldn't mind putting a few pounds on. I love indulging too. I'm not sat there force-feeding myself.

Clandestino · 03/03/2018 08:51

@LaurenBrye - no, that's only for home Grin. I wish I could but too messy.
We always have some Salted Caramel and Ben & Jerry's Wholly Couch in the fridge.
I am also very partial to Gino's combo of white chocolate/pistachio/black forest ice-cream, the more the merrier.
And for all doomers and gloomers, I am a very petite UK size 4 or 6 (that's XXs and XS) and have never had a problem with being overweight in my life.
You can actually eat a whole tub of ice-cream and not get obese. It's about the amount of calories you eat and expend, not about the ice-cream itself. Nobody takes my beautiful sweet ice-cream away from me!

BiologyMatters · 03/03/2018 09:02

Smash I'm not sure what your point is. Eating a whole tub of ice cream to yourself just because its there is greedy.

TickleMcTickleFace · 03/03/2018 09:13

I could and have although not for a few years. I’m trying to have a better relationship with food nowadays Hmm
I do think that the chunks in Ben and Jerry’s or Haagen Dazs make it easy to systematically eat the whole thing though, just one more piece of cookie dough, brownie etc and bam all the ice cream has gone.

upsideup · 03/03/2018 09:16

But nobody would think eating an entire pizza abnormal.

Yes, they would.

QuantumPixies · 03/03/2018 09:18

But nobody would think eating an entire pizza abnormal.

It depends how big the pizza is.

FreeNiki · 03/03/2018 09:20

Normal to eat a whole pizza in say Pizza Express where they are designed for one person.

A large dominos with 10 slices? Not normal for one person.

Purplerain101 · 03/03/2018 09:21

No I wouldn’t want to eat something that has 45g of saturated fat or so in one go. Especially after eating a dominos pizza which probably has about 8g of saturated fat per slice. These sorts of meals are often just as an occasional treat though so I would definitely indulge a bit. If she’s having that sort of meal every week with the full tub of ice cream then its gross!

Purplerain101 · 03/03/2018 09:22

I used to work in Pizza Hut and there was something like 2500 calories in a large stuffed crust meat feast
