I could sink a pint right now.

Me and DH are off work on snow days. Might take him for a walk to the local shortly and treat him. I'll even go to the bar.. Wine

notacooldad · 01/03/2018 13:46

I only drink beer and Guinness really and always think Argh, I hope he doesn't think I'm butch!

Seriously?

Fekko · 01/03/2018 13:47

Why? Drinking a pint of gin is definitely not fine. I should know...

breakfastBus · 01/03/2018 13:49

Jesus. Only on MN would so many posters complain about how a poster refers to herself (girl).

I do think pints are a bit uncouth for a date but think the same about men ordering one / some. A bottle and a glass are different.

Heavens to Betsy, you're probably right. Save your butch side until you suggest pegging him.

An attractive drink though can be a nice extension of your outfit.

PurpleTraitor · 01/03/2018 13:49

Fucks sake.

Went in the pub the other day with my male partner, was the only woman in there except the person behind the bar - rest was full of a male football team and blokes playing pool. The woman working there asked him what he’d like, I was the one buying so I answered and ordered a pint of beer and a gin and tonic. I got given the gin and he got given the pint. We swapped the glasses. I drink pints. He does not. Cue ‘banter’ from the men at the bar.

Felt like I was in the 1950s.

taratill · 01/03/2018 13:50

I seriously am shocked at how gendered the simple act of going to the pub is!

I don't find a man effeminate for ordering a glass of wine or a cocktail!

Just drink what you like! A pint is not blokey, it's refreshing!

CandyMelts · 01/03/2018 13:52

Once I was at a work meal, ordered a beer as we were gathering in the bar and one woman turned to me and said, "gosh I wouldnt dare order beer, how do you have the nerve"
HmmConfused

Maybe timeslips are real things.

😂

NeedGalaxyMinstrelsNow · 01/03/2018 14:02

My rather old-fashioned dad once told me off in a pub for drinking pints not halves.

My DH says he was first attracted to me because I drink beer, burp and watch rugby, unlike all the prim girls he'd only known up to then Halo

goingonabearhunt1 · 01/03/2018 14:05

Had no idea this was a thing. I've always drunk beer and never heard anyone comment on it. I have heard a lot of women tell me they don't like beer though but it might just be that they've only tried shit lager. As pp have said just order what you want, not sure why this is even a question?

myrtleWilson · 01/03/2018 14:05

I think formerbabe is writing "inspirational" quotes for posters....

Actually can't remember the last time I had a pint - will occasionally have some beer at home but tends to be from a can/bottle... am now thinking a pint would be lush!

DalekDalekDalek · 01/03/2018 14:05

My dad would be more likely to tell me off for drinking halves not pints Grin

RainbowGlitterFairy · 01/03/2018 14:08

It's not blokey if you add a straw and a cocktail umbrella Wink

Order what the fuck you like, for our first date DH took me to a lovely little pub with lots of local drinks, I ordered fruit wine, 10 years on DH still buys me random bottles of fruit wine. I don't even particularly like the stuff, but i thought it looked classier than a pint of biddendens cider.

demirose87 · 01/03/2018 14:09

It does look a bit blokey. It's not the way it should be in this day and age but it still is. It's just a drink at the end of the day and it's not really important, but I would worry that it looks blokey drinking that amount in one go and gives the impression you're a big drinker. It could put a man off, but if he's the one for you he won't care what you're drinking.

LizB62A · 01/03/2018 14:15

Drink what you want to drink - I bet the bloke in question isn't fretting about what to order.

Bizarre

taratill · 01/03/2018 14:15

demirose why would it put a man off being with a woman who drank a pint any more than a woman would be put off for drinking the same amount?

I know that biology has something to say here as women's recommended units are less than mens but that's a really odd thing to think.

I like beer but I don't like spirits. A person drinking a gin and tonic is at least as likely to be a 'big drinker' than a person drinking a pint.

squoosh · 01/03/2018 14:17

As long as OP wears her best string vest she'll be grand.

I don't think anyone's suggesting she knocks it back in one!! Male or female that's not a good look unless you're on a serious mission! Grin

BuzzKillington · 01/03/2018 14:21

For God's sake woman! Are you trying to put him off with your manly ways?

0rder a Snowball or a schooner of sherry. Make sure he pays.
