Social media posts like this, why?!

"1 year ago today this little bubs came into our life, you are our world little munchkin we are so proud of you. Happy birthday! Love you to the moon and back"
#bubs1stbirthday #mummyanddaddyslittlelegend #myworld #bestie

It must be a very sad existence if you feel such disdain for other people's happy Facebook posts.

^I agree.

blanikbalm · 01/03/2018 11:14

Same reason someone starts a thread moaning about it i suppose.

You sound bitter, OP.

QueenOfIce · 01/03/2018 11:21

If you don't like the thread you could always just ignore it Grin

Some people do like this kind of thing though, especially if accompanied by pics that friends/family might like to see.

Of course everyone is different and some people post other things that people don't like, just scroll past or unfriend.

Backscratchesforever · 01/03/2018 11:31

It also pisses me off when people post to their dead family etc... is there Social media in Heaven?

twinone · 01/03/2018 11:33

Bubs where I come from are breasts Grin

thecatsarecrazy · 01/03/2018 11:38

Maybe because they want to remember the moment and not all their f.b " friends" are as miserable as you. Im not particularly interested in how many times a pregnant woman on my f.b has thrown up this week but wouldn't say anything. Just scroll on.

MrsHathaway · 01/03/2018 11:40

I find it's usually when they've posted it to Instagram and have Insta set to autopost to Facebook. The tone is very much Insta so does look odd on FB.

The chief perpetrators on my timelines always get lots of comments from the doting grandparents who aren't local, so I guess that's why they do it. They are living an Instagram life but their parents are only on FB so they have found an easy way to make sure the parents see everything without their needing to duplicate effort.

busyknee · 01/03/2018 11:45

I like seeing pictures of my friends' kids. Especially those that don't live near me.

Tippz · 01/03/2018 11:47

I don't care.

People just love their kids.

What's wrong with that? Confused

Just unfollow or unfriend if it's THAT irksome to you! Hmm

busyknee · 01/03/2018 11:47

Maybe you're friends with too many people you're not bothered about. You could unfollow the people you're not interested in.

busyknee · 01/03/2018 11:50

I am guilty of posting this kind of thing. Not very often. Birthdays and maybe 3 or 4 times a year besides. Not so cutesy or gushy though. Just 'wow, three already!' Type stuff. I'm proud of my kids and want to show them off. So shoot me.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 11:53

There's nothing wrong with a photo and a message about how old they are or what they're up to for their birthday.

This isn't what the threads about.

user1467976192 · 01/03/2018 11:59

Only needs an explanation if she doesn’t have a kid

BitOutOfPractice · 01/03/2018 12:04

They lost me a bubz

TheFirstMrsDV · 01/03/2018 12:06

People only tend to object to this sort of posting if they don't like the person doing it.
Its a way of justifying their hatred for their SIL/MIL/daughter

anxious2017 · 01/03/2018 12:20

never heard of a diary?

Yes, I used to keep one back in the 80/90s when Instagram and Facebook didn't exist. Now they do, so they're my diary.

Do you choose to drive a car, OP, or do you ride a penny farthing to the shop? Maybe some do one or the other and that's their choice.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 12:26

A diary is private. Posting on FB is to interact and for people to respond to you.

mollied · 01/03/2018 12:28

They are probably quite miserable and trying to show the world that their life is perfect when it is far from it. It's what my sil does with my nephews

WonderLime · 01/03/2018 12:31

They are probably quite miserable and trying to show the world that their life is perfect when it is far from it.

Or they are excited about their child's first birthday and want to share it with all their friends and family?

QueenOfIce · 01/03/2018 12:40

I don't believe I said I objected to people posting photos of their kids, I just cannot see the point of the ridiculous hashtags and the major gushing to the baby! Some people have read my op and made it about something that it's not.

A diary is private where you can write what you like and guess what you can go back and read it again later on to reminisce. Fb is not private and so I cannot understand why you would would write the type of post I stated if it's not purely to get attention.

It doesn't make me bitter or sad to not like them, more (incorrect) assumptions. Also I did say that it wasn't my fb as I am not on it.

OP posts:
Sarahh2014 · 01/03/2018 12:42

I'm happy in my life but I do posts like describe for ds birthday because I want to and I can

VladmirsPoutine · 01/03/2018 12:45

If you don't like the thread you could always just ignore it

Try re-reading that slowly. Oh the irony.

HollyBayTree · 01/03/2018 12:50

FB is an online diary.

You can choose to scroll past, de friend, unfollow or de activate (which I see OP, you have done, probably for the bsest for your blood pressure).

Some people you have to remain FB friends with I just unfollow them so I dont have to read them. Its such a simple solution rather than getting all het up

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/03/2018 12:55

Hmm. Not sure that I'd call FB an online diary. Some posts such as " FML " with an appropriate emoji attached are nothing more than an attempt to get loads of repsonses asking what's up hun.
