Shock We can start whole new threads for less than $26,000,000.

This one only cost 23p I found down the back of the sofa:

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/mar/06/gary-cohn-resigns-democrat-tariffs-trump

Even for a lesser titan of finance, one without a reputation for deep self-regard, it would have qualified as a painfully humbling moment.

At a news conference in January, Gary Cohn, who was the Goldman Sachs No 2 for a decade, found himself called to the lectern by Donald Trump. The president had been asked by a reporter whether Cohn was happy in his job as director of the national economic council.

“Come here, Gary,” Trump said. “Are you happy?”

“Yes, I’m happy,” Cohn replied through a clenched smile. “How’s that?”

How will the uk government react?

Sergei Skripal believed to have been poisoned with nerve agent

Investigators think nerve agent deliberately used on former spy and his daughter in Salisbury

amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/mar/07/russian-spy-police-appeal-for-witnesses-as-cobra-meeting-takes-place

[the article is worth reading just to see what they have that suggests it might be russia]

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2018 18:21

There are all sorts of questions to be asked now that we know it is a nerve agent, not just which country, but also where it was made and how it was administered. It suggests perhaps that it wasn't consumed.

That poor policeman.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/03/2018 18:28

It’s whether the questions get asked and not brushed under the carpet

blueskyinmarch · 07/03/2018 18:29

I wandered on to the thread to see what has been going on and i find myself backing out slowly shaking my head. I have no words.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/03/2018 18:35

The good news that I don’t think has been posted about much on this thread is that gun control hasn’t gone away as an issue and there are small victories being won all the time, with no sign it’s about to let up any time soon.

For example

Illinois Gun Show Bans AR-15 And Bump Stock Sales After Protesters Speak Out

<a class="break-all" href="http://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/illinois-gun-show-bans-ar-15-sales_us_5a9dc7f7e4b089ec353defd1#click=t.co/hDlIo8LxDp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/illinois-gun-show-bans-ar-15-sales_us_5a9dc7f7e4b089ec353defd1#click=t.co/hDlIo8LxDp

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2018 18:44

I think these questions will be asked because it looks likely that a nerve agent was administered in a public area in such a way that it was able to contaminate at least one other person who came into contact with them.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2018 18:52

Are there any threads about the assassination attempt? It seems very odd that no one is talking about it on mn apart from a couple of posts here.

If it had been an IS attempt on someone's life there would be dozens of threads.

PerkingFaintly · 07/03/2018 18:56

Oh dear lord, the policeman who found them now seriously ill?

OP posts:
OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/03/2018 19:02

I think the fact that the policeman is affected will be what makes it harder to ignore Sad

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/03/2018 19:20

I don’t know if this is peddling misinformation as I don’t know about the veracity of this so please take with a pinch of salt

Given UKIP/Russian connections, it's interesting that head of Counter-Terror at the Met when several of those 14 assassinations took place was Richard Walton. Walton is a key player in Veterans for Britain.

All things keep pointing in circles at present.
