Please judge my dds dinner

My dd (3) is miserable today she's been to the Dr's for inoculations my dh is away for the next week and I'm home alone.

She's requested a fish pie for dinner so I've bought a frozen one which she will have with carrots peas and broccoli as I'm eating later as a friend is coming around

My sil thinks this is an appalling dinner for a growing child as its pre made, full of salt and additives and if you listen to her hysteria i may as well be offering dd class a narcotics

I cook everything from scratch and its a rare occasion we have frozen beige food and 28 days out of 30 we eat a varied diet so I don't think it's that bad. Sil thinks I should have a freezer full of home made delights ready to feed dd on the occasions she eats alone (again we eat as a family around the table the majority of the time)

So is fish pie and veggies really that bad for my dd?

Oh who gives a flying fuck , obviously it doesn't matter that she has that tonight. Stop fishing for compliments.

AuntLydia · 26/02/2018 16:40

It's fine as a once in a while thing. Stop telling your sil anything!

MissMary0fSweden · 26/02/2018 16:40

Did you really need to ask?

UnicornRainbowColours · 26/02/2018 16:40

Bloody hell a frozen fish pie once in a while won’t hurt her!! Don’t listen to other people, if you cook fresh food everyday then it’s really not gonna hurt is it.

Cawanaka · 26/02/2018 16:40

What she said ^

Fruitcocktail6 · 26/02/2018 16:41

It's fine. Just ignore your sil.

inlectorecumbit · 26/02/2018 16:41

Nope it's fine
An occasional frozen crappy precooked meal is fine. You have added in veg.
She deserves what she wants after these jags.
Your Sil is a prat---ignore

ShortandAnnoying · 26/02/2018 16:41

Tell your SiL to mind her own business and go judge someone else fgs!
The odd ready meal won't hurt her its a balanced meal too, with fish and veggies and will cheer her up.

MrsHouseBrownie · 26/02/2018 16:41

Nope, its fine. You've added extra veggies too. Let her eat it watching TV, I bet SIL will object to that as well! Wink

MissMary0fSweden · 26/02/2018 16:42

Stop fishing for compliments

Haha I see what you did there. Cod one grin]

MrsMotherHen · 26/02/2018 16:43

Yes its a terrible meal you are a dreadful mother!

oh come on! Does it matter what your child eats as long as they eat some kids in this country go hungry.

UpstartCrow · 26/02/2018 16:43

SIL sounds like hard work, dont let her get to you. You know there's nothing wrong with the meal your DS requested.

ItsNachoCheese · 26/02/2018 16:43

Nothing wrong with that dinner imo. She has had a rubbish day getting jags she deserves what tea she wants to cheer her up

iklboo · 26/02/2018 16:44

If SIL's that bothered she can cook your DD's dinner herself.

BeyondThePage · 26/02/2018 16:44

It is fine as a one off - just watch the salt levels - though a kids ready meal will have much lower salt than an adult one.

Nicpem1982 · 26/02/2018 16:44

Miss Mary - I did need to ask or I wouldn't have posted.

Im not a massive fan of frozen food tbh as I'm mindful of salt content etc so wanted the opinion of other parents

ShortandAnnoying · 26/02/2018 16:45

Yes a kid's ready meal will be much better nutritionally. I think the Annabel Karmel ones are good.

pallisers · 26/02/2018 16:45

Food is the new religion. It has everything - schisms, cults, fierce wars over dogma, fanatics, martyrs, guarantee of eternal life

pawpatrolonrepeat · 26/02/2018 16:46

Frozen veg are actually higher in nutrients.

Nicpem1982 · 26/02/2018 16:47

Paw - the veg is fresh bar the peas

PasDeDeux · 26/02/2018 16:48

Tell her to get to fuck (in a much politer way of course).

LagunaBubbles · 26/02/2018 16:49

Is this a stealth boast that your DD gets a home cooked meal from scratch every night normally?

Somerford · 26/02/2018 16:49

It's not my plaice to judge.

LolitaLempicka · 26/02/2018 16:50

Why do you have to ask? You have worded your OP in such a way that everyone will agree with you, so what was the point? If this really was a dilemma for you, you could perhaps talk to your health visitor about nutrition as you are making out you are a bit clueless.

Allthewaves · 26/02/2018 16:50

School closed today so we have slummed it. Lots of toast and jam, some porridge, biscuits, sandwiches and some yogurt and fruit. Letting the kids pretty much have a pick want u want day
