Please judge my dds dinner

My dd (3) is miserable today she's been to the Dr's for inoculations my dh is away for the next week and I'm home alone.

She's requested a fish pie for dinner so I've bought a frozen one which she will have with carrots peas and broccoli as I'm eating later as a friend is coming around

My sil thinks this is an appalling dinner for a growing child as its pre made, full of salt and additives and if you listen to her hysteria i may as well be offering dd class a narcotics

I cook everything from scratch and its a rare occasion we have frozen beige food and 28 days out of 30 we eat a varied diet so I don't think it's that bad. Sil thinks I should have a freezer full of home made delights ready to feed dd on the occasions she eats alone (again we eat as a family around the table the majority of the time)

So is fish pie and veggies really that bad for my dd?

Well DO, DC and I are eating from the chippy tonight so you can judge your DDs dinner against ours.

Just recently I paid for dental treatment that I needed, it didn’t occur to me to ask my partner if I could spend it! We don’t have a credit card but it’s definitely the sort of emergency purchase that we keep savings for so I don’t see a problem in using the credit card this once

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 26/02/2018 17:51

Yeah its fine.

Grin for the poster who said 'not my plaice'

GodIsDead · 26/02/2018 17:52

Ridiculous post. Hmm

NinjagoNinja · 26/02/2018 17:53

All threads that start "AIBU to give this to my child" I know before I open them it'll be some quite healthy meal, probably containing lots of vegetables, and that the OP is hoping for lots of praise and aren't you great.

As if you really thought fish pie with 3 extra portions of vegetables was a bad meal. As if.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/02/2018 17:53

You knew the answer before you posted op. But here's your medal for having a dd who asks for fish pie!

Gussy - are you really growing your own grain? Wow that's really good

I get that’s it’s subjective but flour without the shite that even organic producers add to it tastes rubbish and doesn’t function in the same way.

But fish pie is nice

Nicpem1982 · 26/02/2018 18:02

She hasnt eaten it GrinGrin

YABVU to make the poor child eat veg. She's had jabs today, she's suffered enough. Pizza would have been more appropriate.

Seriously, it's fine.

Vitalogy · 26/02/2018 18:24

Well, my son at that age would probably have eaten the pastry out of that meal.

Oh I’m not alone OP! The majority seem to think it’s a daft attention seeking thread Grin

WorraLiberty

Heh thats so true.

With near all aspects of child rearing actually, at least in my experience. Child 1 bumped head slightly and I would be panicking about concussions and do I take her to hospital and such. Child 2..as long as he does not have a noticeable dent and is not bleeding copiously its all fine Grin

WorraLiberty · 26/02/2018 19:39

Exactly TheGoal. I'm the youngest of 5 and it's a wonder I made it to adulthood at all Grin

Noclue123 · 26/02/2018 19:43

I would throw a party if my kids asked for that!

rogermooresfifthwife · 26/02/2018 20:02

If my three year old are a fish pie with two types of vegetables I would be ecstatic.

I think she had baked beans for tea.

BeyondThePage · 27/02/2018 07:31

Fish pie is fine - an adult ready meal for a 3 year old is less "appropriate" (they are designed for adults after all not very young children), but would still be fine if not a regular occurrence - presuming she would not eat all of it anyhow.
