Me again. And I think we're in spider hell. How the fuck has this happened? And what the actual fuck do I do now?

I love spiders. We leave them alone in our house. Including the mummy ones. Quite interesting watching them crawl around.

Pfftkids · 24/02/2018 12:47

That was a gift 😱

underthebluemoon · 24/02/2018 13:00

Were there no instructions for spider husbandry with your spider farm?

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 24/02/2018 13:02

Huldas has your solution. You should package it up and send it in to school, what a wonderful educational opportunity for all the classmates. It would be cruel if you think about it to deprive the other children of the chance to witness this part of the spider life-cycle. You can tell the teacher thst she can thank ex-friend for this opportunity.

Thishatisnotmine · 24/02/2018 13:04

I am not scared of spiders.

But Jesus fucking Christ! Run away!

enpointeredshoes · 24/02/2018 13:06

Despite being petrified of them I bloody despise it when people kill them. It's so fucking selfish to kill another living being because you dislike them. And people who say the whole 'it was the spider or me!' trying to cover up the fact they killed another creature with false joviality. Unless they're poisonous and coming at you, it's not the spider or you.

Same goes for idiots who say 'if you come into my house it's fair game' in some kind of bizarre pretence that spiders can understand property ownership and therefore deserve to be killed because they strayed into a human's home.

Honestly can't understand how people are so blasé about killing animals.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 24/02/2018 13:37

I once saw someone pour a kettle of boiling water over a big house spider. It killed it within 5 seconds but it was horrible to see it suffer like that. No living creature deserves to be burned alive no matter how scary they can

You know you can't burn something with boiling water?

snabigailflagstabble · 24/02/2018 15:25

a trigger warning for a spider PLEASE PEOPLE Hmm

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/02/2018 15:38

Awwwwwwww. As you can probably tell from my user name no one loves itty bitty bsby spiders more than me. Mummy ones though, shudder. She's ginormous.

Where are you.

Drainedandconfused · 24/02/2018 15:45

She’s an absolute beauty! I’m a huge spider fan and the proud owner of a chili rose tarantula and an OBT (short for orange bitey thingGrin
My marriage started disintegrating after exH no 2 hoovered hundreds of baby spiders up, they were running riot on my bathroom ceiling, DD and I would lay back in the bath and watch them, quite therapeutic.
My weirdness has passed onto DD who has a fine tarantula collection of her own.

sonjadog · 24/02/2018 15:48

I´m not a big spider fan, but really, look at the size of them and look at the size of you. Unless they are a poisonous breed, they aren't going to do you any harm. I would never kill a spider on purpose. What right have I to end another animal's life for my own convenience? I have spiders in my house. We have an agreement that if they stick to their corners and don't disturb me, then they can live here for a long as they choose. Most abide by that rule and the odd ones that don't, get put out.

Putting a warning in the title is ridiculous. Do people really need to be warned that a thread called "Spider farm" is going to be about spiders?!

freakyspider · 24/02/2018 15:49

I am genuinely Shockat the warning.

Huldas · 24/02/2018 20:17

Can I just say fluffy is beautiful. I am terrified of spiders but fluffy tarantulas, especially the colorful ones, are almost crossing into cute animal territory for me.

cygnet12 · 25/02/2018 14:22

I learned yesterday there is a spider show near me in May, I'm going! Should be interesting

goose1964 · 25/02/2018 14:31

I seriously dislike spiders. I used to be phobic but on holiday in the DR I saw a baby tarantula,it was under an inch long an furry. It looked like cuddly toy spider.

Still wouldn't like that in my house though. DS2 used to be my spider remover but he now lives hundreds of miles away

LemonShark · 25/02/2018 17:50

*Yesterday 15:52 flumpybear

Lemon - I hope you don't pick flowers, berries, veg etc or cut grass ..... you just can't hear it screaming, doesn't mean it's not!*

I don't.

What's screaming? The grass and flowers or do you mean small insects you can't see? I didn't understand your point, sorry.

Whichever you meant, though, how is that as bad as knowingly killing an animal for no other reason than wanting the animal dead?
