Me again. And I think we're in spider hell. How the fuck has this happened? And what the actual fuck do I do now?

I will add I clicked it as even though I can barely look at it for a few seconds without feeling panicky, I do try expose myself to images rather than engage in avoidance. My phobia is way more about real life spiders and one of these has me rooted to the spot hyperventilating crying and feeling sick. So I feel for those who get that response from a picture. But nobody who is that phobic from photographs would risk clicking on this thread anyway. They certainly wouldn't stick around to ask for a warning!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 24/02/2018 09:44

I'm so fucking glad I don't have kids if this is the kinda shit they bring home.

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/02/2018 09:46

I'm sure it's licking its lips in that picture...

Spider babies are actually quite cute. I don't like the leggy, pendulous bastards, but the babies aren't a problem. Let them hatch (their mother might well eat them anyway if there's no food about) and then release the lot into the wild.

And then emigrate.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 24/02/2018 09:47

You are in SE England.
I am in SE England.
If your DH lets the eggs hatch I will find you. Just saying.

youarenotkiddingme · 24/02/2018 09:47

The word spider makes it's obvious it's about a spider.

It doesn't make it obvious we will be faced with a picture of a giant hairy fucker!

SluttyButty · 24/02/2018 09:47

What kind of deranged individual decided that creating this abomination as an educational toy was a good idea?
It wouldn’t have even got passed the opening stage in this house before being torched in the garden so my dc couldn’t order the spider Shock

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 24/02/2018 09:54

What sort of spider is it? Giant house spider? We’re about to get seriously cold weather here in SE next week, poor thing might die if you put it out now Sad

fleshmarketclose · 24/02/2018 09:55

Did you have to buy the spider? Who thought buying a spider farm was a good idea? I'd go NC for definite, they might buy your dc a tarantula or something next.

Missingstreetlife · 24/02/2018 09:56

I wouldn't have it in the house, she'd maybe, but why are people so hateful to spiders?
They eat flies and are a useful part of the food chain. Leave em alone, or put outside

Huldas · 24/02/2018 09:57

We have a bloody great awful type of spider here in NZ, caught one for DD one day when she wanted to take a spider in to Kindy. Put it in the bug jar and used about a roll of duct tape making the lid impregnable. She named the spider Hilary.
In the morning Hilary had produced 50 million spider babies, must have been an egg sac in the bark I caught her in! Kindy were delighted and kept spider mum and her awful brood.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 24/02/2018 09:59

A warning? For a spider?

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/02/2018 09:59

You’re harbouring a “pregnant” spider < faints>

I’d squash it. Dh and I were on holiday one year and I squashed a spider I was told was probably carrying its babies around. It made a big mess.

freakyspider · 24/02/2018 10:15

I'm not squashing it. Or burning it. I just want to decide whether to let it and it's spawn out now or wait until the fuckers hatch.

honeyroar · 24/02/2018 10:23

Have you got a shed or garage you can put it in? Surely it would die outside in the cold (I wouldn't want it but wouldn't want it to suffer - can't believe people would burn something alive??)

What kind of friend buys something like that!!

LinghamStyle · 24/02/2018 10:25

I'm glad you're not going to murder it. I'm in Scotland so if you let it go I have time to pack and leave before it gets here. I don't like spiders but can't kill them either, so I usually leave them be on the mutual understanding that they must never touch me, ever.

PhuntSox · 24/02/2018 10:26

Take a trip to a deserted moor and abandon it!

CakeOfThePan · 24/02/2018 10:31

I used to have orb spiders in my garden. The babies all balled up into a big group. You would tap the thing the web was on and they would scatter it was fascinating.

I think that’s a wolf one isn’t it?
I had one that lived in the corner of my room, I was happy with her there left her web alone she wasn’t paying rent but helped with the upkeep by getting rid of flies.
She crossed the line when she laid eggs though.

Curtainshopping · 24/02/2018 10:35

Your friend hates you.

Loyaultemelie · 24/02/2018 10:44

Ooh I might actually buy one of those for my DN as revenge for all the noisy toys bought for my dds (I have chronic daily migraines for context)

MissionItsPossible · 24/02/2018 10:50

OP, I advise you go NC with this supposed “friend”. They are not a friend.

freakyspider · 24/02/2018 10:52

She is very busy covering the nest with web. Actually quite fascinating.

We have a false widow living with us. She's massive, but very pretty markings. My dd is terrified of spiders, so avoids the area she appears to live in (my bedroom). I'd say she's about 2cm body plus legs, so a similar size to yours, except she's not in a cage.

gamerchick · 24/02/2018 10:57

Have you seen one hatch before? I discover one in the meter cupboard once hatching and you don’t think such a little sac can hold so many spiders Grin

Seriously those who want to kill, sort your heads out you ruddy pansys Grin

freakyspider · 24/02/2018 11:00

I've moved her down to the dining room now. Feel much better she and her little ones aren't next to my bedroom. She seems happy enough.

You are aware that most of you have this happening in your house atm don’t you and will happen again in the autumn? We live side by side with spiders and they do a job in our houses. With little thanks.
