It's quite a while to be away from family and I have applied. I doubt it will go anywhere but if it did is it selfish to participate?

I love Hunted.

If you think you can do it, and you are successful in getting through.. then nothing's stopping you!

UpstartCrow · 23/02/2018 12:25

Yanbu, that sounds really exciting. A once in a lifetime type thing.

dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:27

I think it would be a life changing experience. It's really good to challenge yourself. I've got a son who's 21 months and I've been incredibly ill since I was pregnant but finally getting back on track. It would be so tough to be away from him and my husband but I think it will restore my faith in myself! I hope it's in the summer so we don't freeze.
I'm obsessed with it

GiddyGardner · 23/02/2018 12:28

Exciting! I often think I would be quite good at it and day dream about where I'd go. Wouldn't have the bottle to apply though. Good for you and good luck!

Trialsmum · 23/02/2018 12:28

Yanbu but for god’s sake if you get on it, don’t phone home and don’t try and sneak home for a visit either! Why don’t they learn??

AmethystRaven · 23/02/2018 12:28

DH wants to do it and I've said he should. I'd pretend he didn't exist for a few weeks and wouldn't give anything away to the hunters - they can be evil!

dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:29

I don't know if there are more rules then you realise when you watch it on TV because I don't think the tactics of the past participants have been that amazing!!

OP posts:
BrieAndChilli · 23/02/2018 12:29

Me and DH have planned our escape!
I have read though that you have to do certain things eg ring your family, move 5 miles ever other day, tKe money out of a cash point at certain times etc and that if you don’t agree with something you then mysteriously get caught!

I loved the last series and was so so so glad that Alex made it as I have a son with ASD.

Nicknacky · 23/02/2018 12:29

This programme drives me nuts. So unrealistic.

dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:30

@Trialsmum I know!! All these lunatics who literally sneak for this or that and use their really close contacts or go hide in remote and isolated places where they can be easily trapped 😂 honestly I laugh so much when they do insane things.
Need to start getting fit incase. Encourage your husband to apply, it didn't take me too long and you can come back to the application to continue it so don't need to do it in one lot.

OP posts:
MouldyVoldy · 23/02/2018 12:32

My partner loves it and wants to apply. I hope he does! It looks really fun, but I couldn’t leave my kids for that long. And if we went together, we’d most likely just row 😂

slashdragon · 23/02/2018 12:33

Omg I want to do it as I love it buy long time away from 5yo DS.

If you feel you can go for it and you can hide out here!

dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:35

I will one hundred percent be exhausting all options.
Ive read some rules for series 2 and it is true that you need to move every day ... so no stake outs.
That's frustrating.
Also must make contact with family and friends!
Time to get studying maps 😂 will let you know if I get any further!!

OP posts:
BrieAndChilli · 23/02/2018 12:36

OMG we could have a mumsnet network, post messages on here under a secret username and get lifts and beds for the night from random mumsnetters!! They’d never be to work out who people are on here!!

BrieAndChilli · 23/02/2018 12:37

Sign up to a secret email and then sign up as a new user on mumsnet (do this on a computer they won’t be able to access eg at work or a library etc) then when you go on the run you just need to log on here and write posts asking for help!

UpstartCrow · 23/02/2018 12:38

BrieAndChilli Genius!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/02/2018 12:39

Me and 11 year old DD love Hunted. We kind of figured out this time that contestants must HAVE to go home at some point during the hunt or you just wouldn't risk it would you?

I couldn't do it but DD would love to 😂

GiddyGardner · 23/02/2018 12:39

That's a great idea! Get together a network on here to help you out! If allowed in the rules, I would start burying money in the countryside - they always get caught out at cash points! I think the hunters cheat though with some of the rules by the sound of it.

saladdays66 · 23/02/2018 12:40

Go for it! But it is a long time to be away from your dc. Just don't ring them...

ReinettePompadour · 23/02/2018 12:40

I think youre mad.

I know someone who went on it. They have to hand over details of all friends and family and they can only contact those people to help them. Thats how they trace people so quickly and manage to view facebook pages etc . They give them a card to withdraw money from cash points instead of cash to spend so they always know where they are.
Their camera operator has to check in daily, another way of finding them. Any strangers they approach to help have to agree to register online and give their contact details before helping.

Its completely set up in favour of the hunters. Your only hope is being slightly ahead of them to escape at the end.

My friend lasted 11 days. Its odd they were out in the countryside for most of it with little contact with the outside world yet the hunters found them easily using facebook contacts to come to the conclusion they would be in the middle of 10000 acres countryside.

Eliza9917 · 23/02/2018 12:42

I'm going to sound like a handwringer now but I find this programme a bit off now since watching underground (3/4 through the 2nd series) - Fantastic programme though (underground, not hunted), watch it if you haven't seen it.

dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:42

@BrieAndChilli i loooove this.
I'll go use a library computer .. and keep you all posted!

@GiddyGardner amazing idea. I wonder if this is allowed?

OP posts:
dissapointedafternoon · 23/02/2018 12:44

@ReinettePompadour yes that does sound tough. So you can't just slip off to someone you know unless you provide that info? I thought only the adjudicator had that info and didn't have to disclose it to the hunters?

OP posts:
punkpuffin · 23/02/2018 12:44

Id love to do it but I have 3 dc under 5 so I don't know if I could leave them for that long.

But definitely start a Mumsnet network for places to stay! Id offer you a bed if you ended up near me.

bettytaghetti · 23/02/2018 12:50

Definitely volunteering my spare room to put someone up! Can't stand that Peter Bleksley and his shitty nasal voice! Anything to help get one over on him I'd be up for!!
