Which theories, dismissed by many as conspiracy theories, do you regard as the truth?

DarthNigel Barry George was convicted of Jill Dando's murder but appealed, was re-tried and acquitted so yes, it's unsolved.

DarthNigel · 19/02/2018 13:20

Ah thanks Madison.
Are they still investigating it or is it case closed I wonder?

loobyloo1234 · 19/02/2018 13:21

Im up to page 13 and not seen this mentioned yet sorry if it is yet to come up but the OJ Simpson's son being the actual murderer has always interested me

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/02/2018 13:42

Harry is the image of Hewitt. If he's not his dad then it's definitely a huge coincidence.

Not a coincidence at all as he gets the ginger from the Spencers. Plus this is the young DoE. Remind you of anyone?

Which conspiracy theories do you believe?
Alisvolatpropiis · 19/02/2018 13:46

This thread has given me a new theory.

Phil the Greek is Harry’s dad and therefore Charle’s half brother.

It was everyone going “no no, he looks like his grandfather” that made me think it.

I’m joking...mostly Grin

ImListening · 19/02/2018 13:49

My dd looks the image of my MIL & nothing like me or dh!

Graphista · 19/02/2018 13:53

Genetics can be funny. One of my dn's is the spit of me and looks nothing like either parent! Much to my sisters fury.

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 19/02/2018 13:53

My one ds looks like me and the other like my sister. I'm relatively sure she isn't his dad Grin

Graphista · 19/02/2018 13:56

There's even examples of celebs (ironically given thread subject - has led to time travel theories) where they look the absolute spit of a long dead ancestor. Even ones not in the direct line. You see it on "who do you think you are?" Sometimes where they discover a photo or portrait of someone that's been dead hundreds of years that they look exactly like.

DevilsDoorbell · 19/02/2018 13:58

Can I please ask that no one adds anything else until after 5pm as I really do have to do some work. Many thanks 😄

BeyondTerfyCassandra · 19/02/2018 14:01

Graph, like the "Keanu Reeves is a vampire" theory?

ImListening · 19/02/2018 14:02

Actually Graphista I know remember that a cousin of mine looks exactly like our great great grandad. We always wondered who he looked like till another relative was going through old photos.

Apologies doorbell Wink

Graphista · 19/02/2018 14:18

Nice try doorbell Grin

That's one example I've seen more convincing ones

The Department of Health is conspiring with pharmaceutical companies to conceal the danger of vaccines such as autism which has been growing at an alarming rate.

Do you even know how offensive this is?

gussyfinknottle · 19/02/2018 16:37

Cuntent, it's fecking offensive, isn't it? Some idiots fall for this shit.
How about a click bait cat conspiracy that makes gullible idiots watch shite on YouTube so that the channel producers get money from advertising.

beluga425 · 19/02/2018 16:37

Do you even know how offensive this is?
It is really offensive, but not so far fetched.

Department of Health involvement seems far fetched though.

gussyfinknottle · 19/02/2018 16:38

Cat conspiracy? I love cats on YouTube. Maybe they are fighting back to mess with my posts. Woooooooooooo.

MissionItsPossible · 19/02/2018 16:38

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Avril Lavigne dying and being replaced by "Melissa"!

crunchymint · 19/02/2018 16:40

Mothers used to clamour for vaccines because they had seen the real harm these illnesses caused.

beluga425 · 19/02/2018 16:42

Of course crunchymint. Whatever the risks, (which over a whole population, there must be) presumably the benefits must outweigh them.

cupofcake

Thalidomide changed the industry completely. The ICH GCP (good clinical practice) guidelines were drawn up in response to atrocities like the nazi experiments and strengthened by the thalidomide scandal.

It effectively created the clinical trial process - which is incredibly regulated (I know, I work with the regulations daily.) thalidomide was a terrible scandal - it’s not even vaguely how the industry is today. Don’t get me wrong, pharma companues still have work to do on ethics of advertising and promotion, but the scientific side is pretty well regulated.

There’s no cover up about vaccines and autism. I know plenty of people in the fields of both autism research and vaccine research and I’ve done some work on genes associated with autism myself. There’s no conspiracy there.

If you fancy a conspiracy and cover up, you might want to look into the financial affairs of one Andrew Wakefield who:

  • Conducted experiments that were painful and unnecessary on children. These experiments had no clinical value. They were to further his personal theories. It’s not an exaggeration to say that that is against every rule in the book (and that book was drawn up after people like mengele did experiments on people.)

  • has financial interests in companies producing single vaccines.

beluga425 · 19/02/2018 16:49

Yes, I've read all about Andrew Wakefield and his commercial interests. Seems pretty unsavoury.
However I don't think the idea of a cover up is that far fetched.
In this instance, where an apparent fix was so simple and would not have affected the drug companies interests, I can't see the evidence stacks up iyswim.

OP posts:
Backenette · 19/02/2018 16:58

Unsavoury is mild... he should have been prosecuted.

Like I say I’m well placed to evaluate the evidence. The epidemiology does not support a link to vaccines. The biochemistry doesn’t either.

The measles epidemics in Greece, Ukraine and the USA recently have been linked to anti vaxxers and have resulted in multiple deaths and disabilities.

The causes of autism are complex - it’s likely driven by several genes all acting together with a small environmental component. It’s really complicated to tease all that apart in the lab. People want a single cause they can point a finger at - it’s a basic human trait unfortunately. Burn the witch and all that :(

CuntentWarning · 19/02/2018 16:59

Autism is NOT caused by vaccines. There are very few things I state with absolute certainty. This is one of them.
