Locally to me they had to cull the male ducks as there were so many they were drowning the females as they hold them under water to mate with them.

SmileEachDay · 18/02/2018 18:18

From Twitter:

“Mathematically speaking any two ducks are already in a row. In order to have your ducks in a row, always own exactly two ducks”

Chifi · 18/02/2018 19:56

smile

You need to quote that on all the DIAR Posts.

Yes I agree. "Ducks in a row," "NARCS," "No is a complete sentence," "50/50 housework," "CFs" - ban the lot of them! And who the hell in real life ever describes avoiding someone as "Go no contact?" It's another planet on here.

UnimaginativeUsername · 18/02/2018 20:25

This is the mental image that the phrase gives me.

Yup, get your ducks in a row.
V irritating phrase

Along with

“when someone tells you who they are , listen’

Gaslighting

Classic narcissist

But my all time MN phrase that makes me want to spit is, in the face of extreme hardship or trauma

“Have a cup of hot sweet tea”

MMcanny · 18/02/2018 20:36

Quack! (I don’t hear an echo!)

sparemum · 18/02/2018 20:44

Ducks in a row - I thought it was row (rhyming with now) as in you needed them as your back-up!! Hmm

My ducks won't get into a row,
Should I log with 101?
Call 111 for advice?
Go no contact?!
Maybe one duck has SEN, and it can't line up properly, you wouldn't be able to tell from the small snapshot you have of their lives.

RubyLennoxExists · 18/02/2018 23:04

I don't have any ducks. But if I did why would I want them to be antagonised and arguing? And what should they be rowing about?

RubyLennoxExists · 18/02/2018 23:06

References to Pearl clutching, and spitting coffee over the keyboard should be banned.

UpstartCrow · 18/02/2018 23:07

Funny crack at people going through domestic violence? Mind you don't cut yourself on all that edge.

SuperBeagle · 18/02/2018 23:19

"Gaslighting" and "safeguarding" have always made my skin crawl.

AliceWhiting · 18/02/2018 23:27

^ Rubylennox Agree re pearl-clutching. I have, regretfully, been on another thread where people think it's OK to swear at some random woman. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a pearl-clutcher. So, so not true.

I have two ducks, (Gerry and Duckypoos) so my ducks are always in a row.

Gerry's not averse to a bit of interspecies shagging either, much to the annoyance of my hens.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 19/02/2018 09:24

I hate most mumsnetisms actually. I don't know why I come here every day for ten years

Chifi · 19/02/2018 10:07

Upstart. Nobody is making fun of domestic violence. It's the phrases thrown out on these posts. If getting my ducks in a row got me out of my DV situation 5 years ago it would have been great, but ducks don't help.Confused
