Totally nerdy I know but I was on the M4 yesterday and stopped at Chievely and remembered the whole Gavin and Stacey debate about which one was best. That or Leigh Delaware.

I think they were all wrong and Membury is best.

But my favourite of all is Strensham on the M5 heading towards Worcester, only the North bound one though!

Any with a burger king Grin

GrannyGrissle · 17/02/2018 21:21

Tibshelf or Trowell on the M1.

topcat2014 · 17/02/2018 21:23

Another vote for Gloucester - (same as Tebay, apparently).

They actually have special trips on coaches there!!

CapnHaddock · 17/02/2018 21:24

Tebay is not a service station; it's a day out :)

user258 · 17/02/2018 21:25

I love corley on the M6. I have to stop there everytime I go past!

topcat2014 · 17/02/2018 21:25

to a PP - we live in Gloucester(shire) but still go to that services nerds

GrumpyOldBagFace · 17/02/2018 21:27

Tibshelf or Trowel?? You haven't lived!!

Pinkponiesrock · 17/02/2018 21:28

I feel we should have a thread on the worst services - I’d lead with Charnock Richards EnvyEnvyEnvy that’s a green spew face not envy!!

ronniebarkersauntie · 17/02/2018 21:28

Leigh Delamere - not for any special features, just for what its location represents, well on the route to my beloved Cornwall

GrumpyOldBagFace · 17/02/2018 21:29

@topcat2014 that was my DH asking. He's a big BIG fan of Gloucester services but is quite bemused by your post Grin

brimfullofasha · 17/02/2018 21:30

Leicester Forest EastWink

trixymalixy · 17/02/2018 21:33

Tebay. By a country mile.

Swizzlegiggle · 17/02/2018 21:34

Another vote for Gloucester!

MiriAmmerman · 17/02/2018 21:38

Tebay (ducks) and the one on the M6 toll (so shiny and clean).

MerryMarigold · 17/02/2018 21:38

....and the winner of the most disgusting toilets is...Bishop Stortford services on the M11. I've been in so many times and they never fail to be completely and utterly stinky.

Peachyking000 · 17/02/2018 21:39

Welcome Break Peachy

No, but something like that, maybe had a bird as the logo? It’s a faint memory I have from childhood holidays

DownstairsMixUp · 17/02/2018 21:40

Medway

I remember a lovely one on the way home from Gretna Green but I haven't a clue what it was called.

I like Hartshead Moor too, we always stop off there when going to Butlins in Skegness.

Agree that Charnock Richard is a dump, especially that round blob on the top of it.

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 17/02/2018 21:41

Welcome Break had a goose flying I think?

emwithme · 17/02/2018 21:43

@BikeRunSki I used to hate the split section near Avonmouth but now it's part of my daily commute, so I'm kind of used to it. I do worry about a car coming off the top bit and onto the bottom bit and squashing me though - and I get annoyed by assholes who think that they can merge into the space my car is at the top of the four lane section, just because they're driving something overpriced and flashy and I'm in a Toyota Aygo.

Re Best Services - Obviously, I'm excluding Gloucester and Tebay because they are the Best Services Without A Doubt but I have a real soft spot for Hopwood Park on the M42. It has two Starbucks so there's never a queue and I always steal the mug Also, despite it being a complete shit tip, I have a soft spot for Sedgemoor as it's my nearest Starbucks and I can do a round trip where I get on the motorway at one junction and off at the next and not have to go back on myself.

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 17/02/2018 21:43

Sorry, it was a swan!

Oh yes, it maybe was Welcome Break then, it looks familiar!

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 17/02/2018 21:51

Gloucester for the play areas (which I didn't even realise were there until it was pointed out to me) and Cobham for the sheer choice of food!

It's a shame that I now live on the doorstep of Gloucester services so have no reason to go there because of course people from here don't go there just for the free play areas

CMOTDibbler · 17/02/2018 21:54

I really like Gloucester, and Beaconsfield is good (esp for the Wetherspoons and therefore actual food but much busier than it used to be, and the petrol is much more expensive than it used to be). Oxford service is nice too, but I do fail to see any attraction at Strensham other than the Air ambulance station.

Apart from those, I can't think of any services I actually like!

petbear · 17/02/2018 21:54

Killington Lake, in the Lake District is my favourite one. (Junction 36 of the M6...)

Been there 4 or 5 times, and stayed there once (on the way to the Scottish Highlands.)

it's utterly lush. Look at the views....... 😍

There are play areas, a cafe, a shop, a Costa, a McDonald's, a Krispy Kreme, a WH Smith, a Day's Inn, and some lovely walks there too. Love going there..... Smile
