AIBU to say that the Aldi, no 1, no 2 etc candles, which are much hyped to be amazing dupes of jo malone candles, are totally scentless and a complete waste of money?!

Previous*!!!! Aagh!

Please be aware if this with regard to the cheap candies. There's a reason why they are cheap:

Paraffin is a petroleum waste product that has to be deodorized and chemically bleached before it can be made into a wax. Most candles are made of paraffin wax, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned ( both are known carcinogens ).

SuperSange · 05/12/2018 07:17

@bagelbaby - anything that burns produces carcinogenic substances. Do you drive? Fry food? Heat your home? Burn wood? You're being ridiculous and scaremongering.

Who on earth pays £50 for a fucking candle !!! More money than sense !!!!

Lisbon · 05/12/2018 10:11

I agree, the candles are not great.

Aldi's liquid soap, however, smells amazing - especially the Jo Malon dupe for Pear and Fresia

Lisbon · 05/12/2018 10:12

*Malone

boffy42 · 07/01/2019 12:35

I just bought the no.1 would never waste the £4 again its a £4 candle if that. plus the burn time is not great.

boffy42 · 07/01/2019 12:37

got the cassis diffuser in the cassis. nice smell but you would need 4 of them to scent a room properly. ok for a small toilet though for a couple of weeks. you really get what you pay for

Unfinishedkitchen · 07/01/2019 12:45

After much hype on here I bought some and was very disappointed. Maybe they’re scrimping on ingredients to keep up with demand? Won’t be buying them again though.

Bluelady · 07/01/2019 12:54

I think they're great value for money. No 1 is a really good JM dupe. The reed diffusers have great throw, the candles not so much but they're cheap as chips, they're obviously not going to be the same quality as Diptyque.

glueandstick · 07/01/2019 13:31

I still think they are ok for the price. The fig diffuser is good for the price as is the pomegranate. Pear and freesia soap is excellent. Not JM but 1/10th price which is ok for kitchen burning etc.

selepele · 07/01/2019 13:38

agree

CoperCabana · 07/01/2019 13:44

Can the clever candle people on here advise whether candles ‘go off’? I have a candle from years ago which has dulled in colour. Can I still burn it? I kind of want rid of it as it looks ugly but it is in a nice big glass jar and don’t want to just chuck it?
