It was picked up on one of my posts that there were inconsistencies in facts in some of my posts. I value the advice I get on Aibu but I name change & vary the details of my life in my posts so as not to be outed as know friend come on here.
My general view is that I really value some of the advice on here but I do want to protect my identity a bit. It’s an Internet forum at the end of the day.
So Aibu to vary the details of my posts to protect my identity on here? How many on here name change/ vary their life information?

I’ve got many usernames I have used at some point. Had about 4 or 5 main ones in the 14 or so years I’ve been here. Don’t really tend to change details much although may have done occasionally.

I change my username regularly. I can't bear the thought of being recognised by someone I know who may then search through my history and so the moment I post something outing then I change my name again. I'm fully aware of how paranoid this sounds as I'm very boring and I doubt anyone would give me a second thought.

After somebody potentially identifying me at work (school based) I have been warned that being publicly recognised could cause trouble for me in work. So I name change every few weeks and will also switch around small details that are non essential to the subject in hand. It's that, or not post at all and I can't cope without my MN fix Grin
