I have complex health. Been feeling just not right recently, really tired and generally unwell so gp requested bloods to be done yesterday.
I've had a phone call saying I need to come in and see a dr today. I said I can't until tomorrow but they insisted today so I'm going at 5.10pm.

I have bloods regularly and they've never rang me to come in the next day even when they've been abnormal so why would they now?
They wouldn't tell me over the phone

Based on what you're saying I would ring your GP and ask should you go to A&E.

There may well be nothing serious wrong, but blood is carried to every part of your body and you shouldn't be waiting weeks to then be told that there is a problem.

EmbarrassingTroubles · 16/02/2018 13:52

@girls don't worry! Spoke to my mum today and it was the first thing she noticed. I feel stupid I didn't know it existed.

I'm trying to avoid hospital 🙈 my pain is bad today but I can't pin point it. It's strange. I'm exhausted and I ache everywhere .

Don't feel stupid Embarrassing. You've had no reason to know it existed. Please don't avoid hospital though. Whatever it is, the earlier it is diagnosed and treated, the better for you. Has the doctor referred you to haematology?

Do you know what your temperature is?

mumof06darlings · 16/02/2018 19:15

I think hospital aswell. As well as needing some treatment as you say you are in pain, you can't wait weeks for an answer. I would go for some pain relief.

EmbarrassingTroubles · 16/02/2018 19:58

Not sure what temp is.
I'm stupidly at work - supported living for adults with special needs.
None of my colleagues would cover me. I'm literally in tears as I'm typing this. Pain & lack of sleep is taking its toll on me.
Dp has even rang my boss saying I need to come home but she is 100s of miles away.
Hopefully painkillers will knock me out or at least take some of the pain away.

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/02/2018 20:53

I understand it is hard getting cover in your area of work. It is hard for you trying to keep everything together while dealing with this. I'm so sorry. If you are unwell though, it is down to your boss to find cover and you need to get home and rest. I know that's easier said than done though. If you can, try and avoid pain killers such as Nurofen or ibroprofen. Also avoid aspirin. Paracetamol is fine

EmbarrassingTroubles · 17/02/2018 10:44

My boss is on annual leave so can't get in touch with her.
I think the no sleep and pain is taking its toll.
I take tramadol regularly and paracetamol due to existing health issues so I've probably built up a tolerance to it which doesn't help.
Just trying to keep busy.
I can't explain it but everything just aches but I can't pin point it. So strange.

OP posts:
GirlsBlouse17 · 17/02/2018 16:39

Surely your boss has cover while on leave! Crazy. Or are you the cover? Who is next one up from your boss? Contact him or her and say you need to go home as unwell. It's not down to the employee to organise cover when needing to go off sick.

Maybe it would be an idea to contact your gp again on Monday to explain the pain you are in. When I had my blood test which showed all my blood counts were very low, my gp had called same day to tell me and had arranged for me to see the haematologist at the hospital the next day. It was considered that urgent

Sweetpea55 · 17/02/2018 16:58

Nobody got medals for going to work while ill. Think of yourself first a few foremost please.
I hope you feel better today. X

Bettybettybettybetty · 17/02/2018 16:59

Hope you’re ok, in my experience you hear VERY quickly if it’s a form of acute blood cancer (so leukaemia). Try not to worry, there’s a billion things it could be. Hospital is no fun but it sounds like it would be betTer to go given how anxious it’s making you aside from the symptoms.

If you’re that Ill you need to go above your managers head - if you’re very immunosuppressed it’s probably not great to be working where you do (ie in contact with people constantly).

EmbarrassingTroubles · 18/02/2018 16:13

I'm sure it'll all end up ok :)

GirlsBlouse17 · 18/02/2018 18:16

Keep us posted Embarrassing. Hopefully all will be okay

Frouby · 18/02/2018 18:24

Ah OP. I hope you have had some rest. Our bodies do funny things sometimes. Fingers crossed it's something and nothing.

Canwejustrelaxnow · 19/02/2018 10:06

Hi, how are you op? I met you under a different name when we had dry socket problems. I'm in your neck of the woods this week. Shout if you need anything from a random mumsnetter! Brew

EmbarrassingTroubles · 20/02/2018 20:15

@canwe ah I remember you! Down holidaying for half term? Think it was this time last year we had that - it was horrible! How are you?

I've got an appt for my bone marrow to be tested. Not really sure what it entails but sure it'll be fine.

Thank you everyone for you're support. Means a lot.

OP posts:
GirlsBlouse17 · 20/02/2018 21:12

Ask if they can do the bone marrow biopsy and aspiration under sedation or at least with gas and air

mikeyssister · 21/02/2018 01:06

It's bloody painful @EmbarassingTroubles so ask should you take painkillers in advance or are they giving you any.

MrsDilber · 21/02/2018 01:13

Yes take whatever they offer you in terms of pain meds. Good luck.

EmbarrassingTroubles · 21/02/2018 12:05

Oh gosh I'll ask for everything then! I don't know what it is tbh.
I've had a lumbar puncture before - is it worse than that? Had 11 attempts of that and that was pretty painful (until they got it in the right place)

OP posts:
mikeyssister · 21/02/2018 17:45

With my Mum they had to keep drilling into her pelvis. Sad

EmbarrassingTroubles · 21/02/2018 18:17

Oh my goodness really? Think I'll give it a miss 😣

OP posts:
LittleMe03 · 21/02/2018 18:32

Stop scaring OP! It might be painful, but take painkillers and remember it might help get to the bottom of your problem xx

mumof06darlings · 21/02/2018 19:27

Good luck embarrassing. I'm sure by mikeysisters post that was because they found it hard to perform it or something. Try not to think of it. When is it happening?

GirlsBlouse17 · 21/02/2018 19:51

Hi Embarrassing it is important you have this done so please don't give it a miss. I don't think it is as painful as lumbar puncture. They will give you local anaesthetic. They will be reluctant to give you sedation because it's a lot of hassle for them but if you demand it, they will give it to you. You would need to demand it in advance of the appointment though so they can organise it. Alternatively ask for gas and air . You will be fine

EmbarrassingTroubles · 22/02/2018 11:17

Had a letter through today for a scan on Monday and heamotology appt so will find out then I suppose when everything else is happening?
