I have complex health. Been feeling just not right recently, really tired and generally unwell so gp requested bloods to be done yesterday.
I've had a phone call saying I need to come in and see a dr today. I said I can't until tomorrow but they insisted today so I'm going at 5.10pm.

I have bloods regularly and they've never rang me to come in the next day even when they've been abnormal so why would they now?
They wouldn't tell me over the phone

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, not long got home and had to put dc to bed.
I'm a bit confused by it all. I have autoimmune issues but my blood levels were the worst I've ever had (baring in mind I've had sepsisx3).

She asked what we're my symptoms, I'm exhausted constantly, off my food, body aches and just generally feel like shit.

She said my blood results have been faxed to some consultants at the hospital for advice and she has made an urgent refferal for heamotology and medics or something and I should be seen within the next few weeks.

I asked what does she think and she said she doesn't want to hazard a guess.

Klobuchar · 15/02/2018 19:09

Flowers for you, OP.

Sounds like they are being very thorough, which is a good thing, even if it doesn’t seem like that now x

MrsMozart · 15/02/2018 19:11

Good that they're being so thorough lass. A handhold from me.

Hopingnwishing · 15/02/2018 19:14

Specifically what was abnormal? Fbc if Haematology involved but in what way abnormal?

GirlsBlouse17 · 15/02/2018 19:20

Did the Dr tell you what your blood counts are?

EmbarrassingTroubles · 15/02/2018 19:25

I don't know all she said was white cells were either low or high - same as the red ones & the size of them. And platelets?
I have primary biliary cholangitis so liver has always been abnormal and lupus affects my kidneys so that's nothing new but she said everything has rapidly deteriorated.
Already on maximum dose of ferrous fumarate and have been for a while. I said is it just anemia and she said no.
I'm not going to Google!
Thanks for the hand holds

Will be thinking of you and praying for you! I say this a someone who used to be employed by the NHS, please don’t be scared to present at a&e or MIU if you start to feel worse/different before your next appt. lots of love

EmbarrassingTroubles · 15/02/2018 20:09

Yes she did say don't hesitate to go to a&e but I'm trying to avoid hospital I hate it :(
I had mouth cancer last year so they are probably being cautious.
I didn't need any treatment apart from it being removed thank goodness.
I'm only 26 and can barely function or look after my dc. It's horrible :(
I'm just existing not living.
Sorry for the rant just feel so lonely

Normal blood ranges:
Red cells haemoglobin 130 to 180
Platelets 150 to 400
White cells 3.8 to 10.8
Neutrophils 2.0 to 7.5

Nikephorus · 15/02/2018 21:26

I'm not sure that mentioning blood cancer is particularly helpful, especially as OP said she wasn't going to google!
They probably are just being extra cautious OP & ruling stuff out quickly. Fingers crossed it's just a blip & no biggie.

strawberrysparkle · 15/02/2018 21:33

How scary for you OP- hand hold from me!

Also, mentioning blood cancer is highly insensitive and just plain odd- shame on you.

SunnySeaShell · 15/02/2018 21:43

Oh OP, another handhold from me Thanks

EmbarrassingTroubles · 15/02/2018 22:27

I didn't see about blood cancer. Didn't even know it existed :/
I know my haemoglobin was 92. Well one of them was.

School have said my eldest has been really sensitive and upset. He's a sensitive soul, I told him the last few weeks of me being poorly was a cold & trying to hide it from him :(.
School have arranged transport for him there and back 3x a week so I can rest.
Think it's all sinking in a bit today. Gp didn't really give me any answers

GirlsBlouse17 · 16/02/2018 11:53

I'm sorry Embarassibg. I didn't mean to worry you needlessly. It was thoughtless of me. Let's hear what the hospital say before jumping to any conclusions. There can be lots of explanations for low blood counts. I will be thinking of you and am here if you need a chat xx
