Avoidant/restrictive food intake can be classed as a type of ED.

ChelleDawg2020 · 11/02/2018 14:22

Rice!

It looks like maggots crawling on a plate. It's also an appalling waste of water. Given the constant hammering into us that we should not waste water, there is absolutely no good reason to grow or eat rice. Growing an acre of rice takes many times the quantity of water as growing wheat or corn would.

DullAndOld · 11/02/2018 14:28

meat from a tin
value burgers
Jellied eels
Flaki (Polish tripe soup)
Frogs legs
Richmond Sausages

Graphista · 11/02/2018 14:39

Oh yes I used to like pork scratchings or even better hot just made crackling which mum seemed to get just right every time.

"Wow, some people really have food issues!" Wow the irony on mn sometimes, 😂 this followed by a long list of foods not liked.

Having to google things too, natto sounds like something I'd like.

Just remembered another I don't like though - blueberries. Don't mind them in a muffin but fresh they're really mushy and quite tasteless other than being very sweet (probably why Americans love them).

Dd hates rice (it's "bitty" apparently) and... Chips and chocolate, yep a teenager that doesn't like chips/fries (in fact she's not keen on potato at all) and chocolate. So many times people haven't believed her/me/us. Chocolate is apparently too "gloopy".

EsmeWeatherwax · 11/02/2018 14:51

Snails. I can barely look at them alive, never mind eating them dead and covered in garlic butter. Similar with snake or eels. Envy

There's one or two other things I don't like, but that's a different thing altogether.
I hate coriander, but I can see why other people like it.

SleightOfMind · 11/02/2018 17:51

I can’t think of anything Blush

I’d eat anything if,

A. I was hungry enough.
B. Someone had served it to me.

I can’t imagine being st someone’s house for dinner or something and refusing to eat their food.

What do you lot do if you’re abroad or eating with people of other cultures?

Thecandyshop · 11/02/2018 17:52

Ever eaten conch?

Spangles1963 · 11/02/2018 17:53

Frogs legs. Snails. Oysters. Octopus. Squid. Any sort of offal.
My DD told that her MIL makes her own steak and kidney pies, but LIQUIDIZES the kidney as she likes the taste of it,but not the texture of whole lumps of kidney. Envy (not envy)

Spangles1963 · 11/02/2018 17:57

This thread reminded me of my late DDad,who wouldn't touch tripe. He said it resembled 'boiled knitting'! Another of his hates was trout, which he said was 'like eating cotton wool stuffed with needles'. Grin

Spangles1963 · 11/02/2018 18:02

Glad to see it's not just me that hates lamb. I don't like any red meat (except bacon) but it's usually because of the texture, not so much the taste. But lamb..... I hate the taste of it. It always tastes faintly of blood to me,as for the texture,it's like chewing string. I'm looked upon as being a bit odd by most people I know. I'm the only person I know (apart from my DD) who hates it. Even my 11year old DGD loves it.

Cauli rice is not good, and neither is quinoa which I was disappointed about.

Beetroot. Every few years I give it another try and it remains horrible.

LoniceraJaponica · 11/02/2018 18:05

Isn't that why rice is grown in countries with a decent rainfall?
Are you going to tell countries where rice is the staple food they souldn't be growing it?

Spangles1963 · 11/02/2018 18:06

Strangely, although I'm what I would call semi-vegetarian because I don't like any red meat,I really hate quorn. To me,it tastes like sausage meat, and I hate sausages. I like soya protein and tofu though.

ChocOrCheese · 11/02/2018 18:06

Vegetarian sausages.

Thequeenisdeadboys · 11/02/2018 18:08

Liver. Ugh !

sunshine11 · 11/02/2018 18:10
