To say smoking does look cool?

Yes, I know inhaling thousands upon thousands of cancerous chemicals definitely isn't cool!

But there's something about some people lighting up a cig and looking into the distance that looks rather cool and 'suave' to me Grin

I always picture having a deep conversation with a mysteriously handsome but dark horse of a person, looking far into the distance as they respond to my dilemma "That's life, Soph" or some other talk that included clever sayings that I can never think to use at the right moment.

It looks cool.

My executive assistant aunty use to look very classy sitting with her legs crossed and smoking a cig, whilst listening to my dilemmas
I just want to put it out there that I've never so much as taken a puff of a ciggy Blush

The pic dilby posted def looks cool. But not everyone who smokes looks cool. You have to be cool in the first place to look cool smoking.

It used to, in films at least.

I remember having a paradigm-changing moment, about 8 or 9 years ago. I saw a young woman, dressed in an interesting, self-conscious, cool way, waiting at a bus stop. She conveyed cool elegance with a bit of je ne sais quoi. Then I saw she was smoking a cigarette. Bubble burst. She looked like a try-hard twatty young fool.

I agree with you OP.

I'm not going to lie, I first slept with DH because I thought he was really cool (and smoked), however 18 year old me was far less classy than I am now!

I quit smoking about 8 years ago and I miss it every time I have a drink, if it wasn't for the health implications, costs etc I would still smoke 1000%

I think it looks cool and all the best songs are about cigarettes, nick cave, tom waits, kd Lang... I am not cool therefore never took up smoking

Are you by any chance the kind of person influenced by advertising?! This has been the aim of tobacco company advertising since forever

I'm too young for this - the only smoking advertisments I'm aware of is sperm on packs of fags Grin

I used to think it looked cool (on occasion) too. But nowadays I hardly ever see anyone smoking in public, and when I do it's people who look pretty dodgy/rough as f*ck. They don't look cool. They look desperate, impoverished and fed up. Sad Not cool.
