WTAF?! If you have any sympathy for this vile piece of shit, I pity you!

3 years & 4 months for a second offence ... WOW JUST WOW! He should be locked away for LIFE!

When will they accept he is completely beyond reproach and will always be a danger to the public.... especially children!

||www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-42972085 venables||

"He admitted charges of making indecent images of children and one of having a "sickening" paedophile manual."

"He admitted having 392 category A images - deemed the most severe - 148 category B and 630 category C pictures"

"The court heard when Venables' computer was seized in November images were found of children, mainly aged between six and 13, although some were younger.
Mr Justice Edis said some of the images found were of babies."

"Given your history, it is significant that a number of the images and films were of serious crimes inflicted on male toddlers," he said."

What can be done to protest this?

Because it's a second offence whilst on licence it is disturbing that the legal system doesn't have greater powers than applying the maximum sentence for the current crime. Especially as both recalls are linked to the original crime

GnotherGnu · 07/02/2018 19:40

Isn't it obvious, Sleepingbunnies?

NiteFlights · 07/02/2018 19:40

I don't think he will be released again after this, and I don't think he should be. As far as I know he has never been diagnosed with any psychiatric disorder? It would be best if he remains in prison for life, as he has demonstrated that he has not been rehabilitated at all and continues to pose a threat.

BishopBrennansArse · 07/02/2018 19:41

The failures of the parole board definitely need addressing. That doesn't have anything to do with sentencing guidelines judges are given, they are separate systems.

I would hope his life licence would permit permanent detention though as there's little to no hope he will ever be safe to be in the community.

WheresTheHooferDoofer · 07/02/2018 19:41

I wonder what the difference is between Venables and Thompson?

AFAIK, there's been no reports of Thompson re-offending since release. In fact, I only recall reports a few years ago that suggested Thompson is living a stable life and unlikely to re-offend.

If so, why did one respond to rehab and not the other?

GabsAlot · 07/02/2018 19:41

hes not ill hes just wrong and should be locked away for life

i always think of poor sarah payne who would still be here had whiting not been released after trying to abduct someone previously

GnotherGnu · 07/02/2018 19:41

Fluffy, the law does have greater powers. In addition to the sentence for this offence, the life sentence has been automatically reactivated.

echt · 07/02/2018 19:42

Unfucking believable! And no I don't mean Venables, I mean some of the braying mob on this thread. I find you just as disgusting as I do Venables*

It will be interesting to see if this is deleted, because Gilead has not attacked anyone, they have said what their feelings about a number of posters are, which is quite different. Rather similar to the way that calling someone a bully is not the same as saying someone's behaviour was bullying.

If it is a deleted it will be a new low for MNHQ.

BishopBrennansArse · 07/02/2018 19:42

@DextroDependant I think I agree, he himself linked the old identity to the first new one. If he does it again why should he get another?

Holy shit, how can anybody believe Venables doesn't have a psychiatric disorder? Paedophilia itself is classed as a psychiatric disorder. I bet many of you have said, at some point "He's sick in the head". Well, yes...

BishopBrennansArse · 07/02/2018 19:44

@GnotherGnu couldn't agree more

UpstartCrow · 07/02/2018 19:45

Jassmells
I can only assume that jury were got at.

LoonvanBoon · 07/02/2018 19:46

I agree, echt. And with your posts, GnotherGnu. These threads are horrible and I can't believe they'd be any comfort to the victims / families of the victims of these horrific crimes.

Sleepingbunnies · 07/02/2018 19:46

Agree entirely petbear

DeputyBrennan · 07/02/2018 19:47

So when is the ‘mob’ allowed to ‘bay’?

I’m too young to have seen the coverage of James Bulger’s murder and the subsequent trial, though I’m aware it was extraordinary and unprecedented. But now we have a murderer who had huge amounts of time, effort and money spent attempting to rehabilitate him as a child, who has gone on to commit further crimes against children (remotely/indirectly) multiple times. He either has a complete lack of remorse, complete disregard for the law, or a complete inability to control himself. He isn’t safe in society, and fortunately he probably won’t be released for a long time, if at all. I don’t quite feel the rage that some feel about him, but I understand why they do. The man’s scum. Continue baying all you like, ‘mob’.

TheFairyCaravan · 07/02/2018 19:47

He’s not fit to walk the earth. If that makes me part of the braying mob I don’t care. He should never, ever be released because he will reoffend and who knows what it will be next? Children aren’t safe while he’s around. They never, ever have been.

ChaosNeverRains · 07/02/2018 19:47

This thread is disgusting and needs deleting.

Perfectly valid to have a discussion about sentencing in general, even with this case in mind. There is valid debate to be had around the sentencing of child sex offenders (i.e. those committing crimes against children) and whether they can rehabilitated

But talk of castration, abortion and eugenics is beyond the pale.

NiteFlights · 07/02/2018 19:47

petbear nobody is supporting him. I'd like to see him remain in prison for life, the fact that I and others on the thread don't think he should be tortured or whatever doesn't mean we're not entitled to our opinions. This isn't a competition to see who can be most outraged.

BishopBrennansArse · 07/02/2018 19:47

@WheresTheHooferDoofer being as it was said at the time that Venables was the ringleader it could maybe be said that it was just 'in him' to be a sadistic paedophile. We don't know whether or not he would have committed his subsequent crimes if he had never killed James. I suspect he would still have downloaded and made the images but being as he wouldn't have had the parole service checking on him and discovering it it's perfectly possible he would have got away with it and worse with no detection.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/02/2018 19:48

it will ultimately be up to the Parole Board to decide when or if he should be released

Given the Parole Board's record of getting things hideously wrong, I imagine this is precisely what's worrying folk

FWIW I'm not suggesting he should be handed over to the public either, but the Board as currently organised hardly seems fit for the task

FluffyWhiteTowels · 07/02/2018 19:48

Gnu thank you. A question: if the life sentence is automatically reactivated on recall of an offence ... why did the judge hand down a sentence of a set period of time? Surely if original life sentence activated the additional 3 years is meaningless? The only reason for a trial was to determine guilt ... he admitted and pleaded guilty.

Emily7708 · 07/02/2018 19:49

There are so many disgusting crimes nowadays you become a bit desensitised to it all. But this person is a particular type of evil, just evil through and through from such a young age. And how stupid would you have to be to continue downloading and storing this stuff when you know your every move is being watched? He just doesn’t care.

I was watching a documentary about paedophiles in other countries and many have compulsory chemical castration for paedophiles. Apparently they did a trial here in the UK but made it voluntary and just stopped doing it. I think making it compulsory over here is the least they should do to these people.

echt · 07/02/2018 19:49

What ChaosNeverRains said.

ZanyMobster · 07/02/2018 19:50

Talk of a braying mob is ridiculous. We are discussing a 35 year old man here not a 10 year old boy. He had access to a supposedly high quality rehabilitation unit plus close supervision outside and he has reoffended in various ways several times.

What are you suggesting happens to him now then? Let out in 40 months (or potentially half) or a serious review by the parole board re him staying in prison under his original life sentence?
