It’s his 4th offence, murder of James, affray, this is the 2nd time he has gone to prison for downloading pictures of child abuse and in between he broke his parol conditions by going online when he wasn’t allowed to.

I was asking from two perspectives... increasing his sentence and changing the punishment handed out to sexual and child sex predators. What can be done?

And judges have guidelines to go by and he has very clearly used that to the full extent of the law and what was within his powers to do.

But he was convicted in 2010... should have been released in 2012 (2yr sentence) but was held because of the license so released in 2013...

What was it in 2013 that convinced them he was safe?

What is stopping him putting in the very same act in front of the parole board... and since we will never know why the parole board makes their decisions, who can we trust really?

I agree with Newyearnewme that he's now institutionalised. He committed that god awful crime at such a young age that he now has absolutely no idea how to behave. How can he know? He will never be rehabilitated, that's just not possible and will always be in and out of prison for the rest of his life a total waste of space and tax payers money.

I don't know whether he is unwell or not - as far as I know it's never been publicised. He doesn't necessarily sound as if he's 'not sane', he just might be very very bad.

It's not great for helping combat the stigma of mental illness when the worst punishment people can think of for someone is a secure psychiatric unit.

To clarify "making" in case anyone else was confused by it, I believe that in other cases that has meant things like making copies and sharing online, not necessarily actually producing it in the first place (as they said later on something about the manual which made it sound like he hadn't had contact with children that they knew of). Obviously it's still an awful crime, of course, just a different one to what I initially assumed.

He has never been in a psychiatric unit, as far as I know, or diagnosed with a mental illness, so a psychiatric facility would be totally inappropriate.

It's possible for someone to be sadistic shit without being mentally ill. Secure psychiatric units are not for the sane, but bad. I am sure he has had many assessments, and if he were mad, he'd be in Rampton/Ashworth. But afawk, he's not.

Secure psychiatric units are hospitals, they're not dumping grounds for nasty people.

This is what happens when a criminal justice system is completely hijacked by naive, politically correct do-gooders who see violent murderers and paedophiles as ‘victims’ and blame ‘society’ for their crimes.

As a student mental health nurse i had a placement in a medium secure mental health unit , every door had to be locked. As you went through it and unlocked etc but it depends on his diagnosis if he's not mentally ill or has a severe personality disorder than prison it is .
