The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Jux of course! Use as much or as little of it as you like.

I think I have concerns beyond what I said really but I think coming from that angle makes it harder to be called transphobic (unless someone has already drunk the kool aid of course)...

I should write to my MP too really. He is a loved Corbynista in a lone constituency surrounded by a sea of conservative, and he has come out in favour of transwoman on female shortlists, so I doubt I'll get far.

Huntinginthedark · 08/02/2018 15:21

Bump again! Need to keep this at the top of aibu! Which is pretty bloody hard

Akire · 08/02/2018 16:30

All this non binary will be next thing. Why limit self to one or the other? Be neither then you have access to whatever you am using on any day.

I was using passport to apply for free travel card and had put number and sex in (well it said gender) there was box to say unspecified. Is this now a thing in passports?

OvaHere · 08/02/2018 16:59

Bump again.

AlpacaLypse · 08/02/2018 17:14

I filled it in a couple of days ago.

growinganotherhead · 08/02/2018 17:19

Done. I feel betrayed; I have voted for the Green Party as long as they have been around. Voted Labour for the first time in the last GE tactically and now find both parties have thrown me and thousands of other women to the wolves.

SuitedandBooted · 08/02/2018 17:22

All MP's contact details can be found here.

www.theyworkforyou.com

I am going to contact them all over the Half Term, and ask for their thoughts on this issue. It will be interesting to see the responses. Frankly, I think that a fair few don't understand/don't care, and others will feel too intimidated by Liam/Lilly Madigan and his McCarthyist hit list.

I am going to hold my nose, and lobby the DUP particularly hard, as they will certainly be the least receptive to the proposed law changes. I don't agree with many of their policies, but they are a means to an end, and this insanity must be stopped.

Thank you for the thread, am reading through it all now with horror...

Morphene · 08/02/2018 17:51

I've completed it in what I hope would be considered as supportive of trans people who want to quietly get on with their lives passing as their chosen gender. I don't think I was very supportive of men who want to access women's spaces for reasons of self-gratification or the abuse of women.

I hope there is in fact a zone in between those things that its possible to hit....

TheABC · 08/02/2018 18:47

Done. I doubt they will actually read the responses, though. I think it's going to take a series of men abusing this loophole and a huge public outcry to change it.

PencilsInSpace · 08/02/2018 18:48

Bump!

20 DAYS LEFT

ChickenPaws · 08/02/2018 18:49

Done.

Fuck alone knows what good it’ll do though.

I don’t do sport or go swimming, but I do use public loos. If I ever encountered some hairy arsed Brenda in there I’ll be using disabled loos from then on. I’m a rape survivor and I have absolutely no desire to discover a bloke in a womens loo.

ChickenPaws · 08/02/2018 18:55

How many women and girls will have to be assaulted before they take notice?

Will we have to reach peak rape then they’ll do something?

I can’t believe our hard won rights - such as they are - are being circumnavigated by these trans rights misogynists. How many women are going to have to give up sport and swimming due to this?

I wonder if these jokers will be sticking pillows up their lady jumpers and pretending to be in need of anti natal checks Hmm

Gizmo79 · 08/02/2018 18:59
