Am I the only one who doesn’t think it’s a class thing and know people and kids with different names across the board along with “proper” names?

wondering what a plumber name is - Tap, Bath, Bog....

Lou?

How is Apple not a stupid name ?

TrickyD · 07/02/2018 17:31

Steamtrain
Lou Grin
What about Fawcett? Or your Steam for that matter. Bidet? Sounds quite like Biddy. Jakes for a male plumber name.

Beeziekn33ze · 07/02/2018 17:57

Below the Tatler joke list, which included names 'generations old' is another of perennially push names. This one goes from Amanda to Zara and includes, of course, Olivia.

One woman on the bus called out Twinkle and her little girl came out running. I thought it was a nickname until I saw it written on her school bag name tag 'Twinkle Surname'. Ffs why do people do this? Don't they care that they're setting up their kids for a life time of smirks and bullying.

Twinkle for a child is just about ok but for a teenager and adult it's absolutely an embarrassing name to be lumbered with.

Dwayne Pipe/s?

Louise, that’s all you need.

Randomname234 · 07/02/2018 18:12

Please. You could say the same about the outrageously middle class, faux Greek, or seriously antiquated names you see on a regular basis here on the Names board. I regularly have a giggle to myself. The thing is though, we don't say it. It's impolite. We keep those thoughts to ourselves.

But what do I know. My name is either chavvy, boring, tacky or twee, depending on the thread.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 07/02/2018 18:36

I know a lovely young Native American man called Storm who is in his 30s now. As far as I know, his name has never caused him any issue at all.

ForalltheSaints · 07/02/2018 20:50

YANBU. Bullying because of a person's name is never good, but wouldn't you want to protect a child from the possibility?

littlebillie · 07/02/2018 21:50

I know all these kids ten fold do their parents have no imagination

Olivia, Sophia, Amelia and Emily
