I know this type of thread has probably been done to death, but someone on fb shared a daily fail link yesterday about the creepy things children sometimes say. It got me thinking about strange goings on.

My eldest dd at about the age of 2 was sat playing in her room while I was putting washing away in my room. She suddenly started screaming so I ran in thinking she had hurt herself and she was wide eyed with fear. I asked her what was wrong and she said while pointing I should add " there's a man with black eyes and a hat holding a baby" Confused

I've never walked out of a room so quickly ( backwards I should add so I didn't have to see the man) my cat also used to refuse to enter that room at all. Lots of other little things when she was pre school age.

For myself I kept smelling "death" I work in a hospital environment and do believe death or pre death to be more specific has a certain smell.
I was still living at home and for about a week everytime I walked in the front door I could smell death. Hmm
I still remember DM face everytime I announced it. Ha.
Towards the end of the week the smell was so strong. That evening I had a dream that I was in bed fast asleep and the whole house started to shake. I got up and looked out or the window to see an aeroplane about 12 feet away with people screaming at the window getting closer towards a block of flats ( there are no flats nearby)
The next day was September 11th.
I remember watching the news and thinking FUCKING hell. The dream.
Weirdly enough after that happened the smell of death went too. It still weirds me out when I think about it.
I also dreamt about the London/Birmingham riots a few years nack 2 days before they kicked off.

Do you have any odd stories to share?

Oh shit sorry peeps! Haven't been on here since this morning! Ok, so hope your all sat comfy....
My sister was in Germany, and around a week and a half ago she phoned my mum to say you wouldn't believe what happened to me today...It's snowing in Germany at the moment, just like over here, she was out walking with her son in the pram on a backstreet path and noticed a misty haze, which soon passed, she then looked down and was walking on cobbles, she noticed it was very hot, almost like a summers day, and took her coat off whilst carrying on walking. She saw lots of German soldiers In trench boots with the old fashioned gun harnesses/straps across their body's. Lots of old fashioned Military vehicles were driving past her and she saw a boarded up windmill. She saw lots of signs/posters that seemed very old fashioned with the brands and wording etc. She walked past a few German Soldiers that were staring at her and were whispering to one another, she didn't dare look at them and just noticed their old fashioned uniforms and boots. She contemplated turning back, but didn't, and carried on walking ahead. This all lasted for a few minutes. She then walked through a misty haze and was back on the path where she started, the cobbles had gone, and she turned around to look what she just went though as she thought it was a German street, but there was nothing there except the path and surrounding field that she started on. She said they was dressed like world war 2 days, and her little son, who is normally very active and makes a fuss at everything he sees didn't blink an eye lid, he was sat in the pram just looking ahead as if he never saw it she said. He would normally have been pointing etc. She asked her friends If there was a German military town where she was, and they said nothing like that exists, but it was back in the day of world war 2 times.
My sister is completely sane, she knows what she saw, and says she will never ever forget it for as long as she lives.
She went through a German world war 2 time slip and I am very nerdy jealous as I wish I experienced something like this!
If you google Bond Street in Liverpool lots of reported ones have happened there too.
It's fascinating! And just goes to show that life is like one big conveyor belt, people still exist but in a different time.

very very jealous not nerdy jealous! Confused

@Writersblock2 As there are two bands, I'd go to a registry office and see if there is a death certificate, not just for your own DOB, but for a week or two afterwards.

eleanorelephant · 03/03/2018 23:47

@Writersblock2 you don't need to go to a registry office, you can search for a twin's birth and death online. Freebmd is the site you want.

CatherineTheTiny · 04/03/2018 00:18

Oh why did I have to read all this in bed, home alone in one of those old victorian terrace houses? Especially because Kiddo always says "Catherine, you know our house is sooo old. There MUST be ghosts"
I'll be off drawing a salt circle round my bed nowConfused

I really got into gardening a few years ago, I'm not very good at it and I have a small garden, but I do enjoy it. One afternoon, I noticed my garden lights flashing (they are solar and they have three settings, on, flashing and off, I always had them set to on).
As they were flashing, I just thought that the setting (a slide bar) must have slipped, so I walked towards the lights to check, as I was walking towards them they stopped flashing and remained on. Didn't think much of it and began to walk away...as I did they started flashing again. So I began to test it...walking towards them and then walking away, I managed to do this for about 10 mins, with the same result....flashing when I walked away, remaining on when I got close to them ( I have a video of it). Then suddenly, After 10 mins, I knew it was over and they wouldn't flash again. This reoccurred a few times for a good few weeks. I have no explanation. I even tested to see if I was causing a shadow when I approached the lights (as they were solar) but they stopped flashing at various distances (as long as I was walking towards them). As soon as I turned foot though they would flash (sometimes it seemed they anticipated me turning and would start to flash as soon as I thought about walking away). Reading this back, I sound crazy...but I do have the video!

A few things but nothing as remarkable as most of the stories on here, this thread is great! One night a few years ago I heard my front door slam about one in the morning, was chatting to my sister a few days later and the same thing had happened to her! I saw a black cat on my stairs that same evening which spooked me a bit as I didn't have a cat. Nothing significant happened following that though... I once saw a picture float across the room and land upright (a few years ago.)
Last night something happened a bit puzzling, I was on my iPad when it froze, wouldn't turn off or move away from the page I was on, I went in the kitchen to get a drink of water and to the side of me heard a funny crackling sound and then saw about three lines of what looked like led strip lighting shoot down really quickly right next to me, it was really weird, does anyone have an explanation for that?

DickTERFin · 04/03/2018 14:22

I have the pregnancy knowing thing and I also have a weird “birth alert” thing whereby i’ll Suddenly think of a women who I know is pregnant and think “oh she must be due soon” and will later find out that she just had the baby or just went into labour around that time.

When I was in my early twenties I was walking towards an underpass. The road I was on was deathly quiet but the other side was full of shoppers and commuters. As I approached I saw a young man in a black hoodie and in that same instant I had a flash of imagery of him sexually attacking me and then stabbing me, accompanied with a load male voice that said “take action now”. Long story short, I managed to evade him but he caught up with me on the steps on the other side. He had a knife and was threatening to stab me with it but I had him off balance and dragged him and me up the steps to the busy street where he ran off. I swear it was a guardian angel and I don’t believe in them.

One of my boys used to talk about being a grown up daddy before he was my little boy. He would get very upset about not seeing his children again and would go into quite a lot of detail considering he had a speech delay.

Same son. When I was very newly pregnant with my DD and before we had told anyone he said that “mummy has four babies, I can see them in her tummy. Dot, dot, dot, dot - boy, boy, boy, girl”. She was a girl. He also told me that I knew her from “before” but he couldn’t explain what he meant he just would say “you knew her from before, you were friends, don’t you remember?”.

Recently I had a series of dreams about an uncle who hasn’t played any kind of part in mine or my parents life for years. I couldn’t remember the dreams exactly, only that they left me feeling that there was something very wrong and it involved him - I asked my mum if she had heard from him. She hadn’t. Cue a week later and the start of a huge drama instigated by said uncle that is still rumbling on.

DickTERFin · 04/03/2018 14:26

Redwine - I find the whole time slip thing so interesting.

This was the last thing I read last night. I started skipping over any mention of ouija boards as they freak me out. Dreamt of a demon trying to attach itself to me it was horrible!

I think i experienced a timeslip when I was about 8. We were on a long train journey and the train was in the countryside going through quite a deep cutting. It was the middle of the day and I was watching out the window. I saw a man on top of the bank of the cutting, looking down at the train. He had dark skin and was dressed in animal skins, holding a spear. His eyes met mine and his shock at what he was seeing mirrored mine. I immediately told my parents who didn't believe me at first, my dad later did believe me as I was so adamant. Can still see that man now so clearly in my mind. As an adult I came to believe it was a timeslip.

Have had quite a few supernatural experiences, Inc a possession. One nice one tho is when I was 16 and telling dad about a great dream I had had the night before, where a teacher was showing me chakras. Dad then said matter of factly 'and the teacher was Samoan.' I hadn't mentioned this detail and he couldn't explain how he knew! We were close and he was able to describe details from my dreams a few times over the years.

Crediton · 05/03/2018 07:06

Another one for you, this one happened to my aunt.
In the 1970s my aunt was living in rural Devon in a very old house. Her daughter was 3 and doing a drawing. We still have the drawing, and it looks like an evil rabbit cat thing, just horrible. When my aunt asked her what she had drawn, my cousin said in a strange little voice 'its Woden mummy.' She had never been read any Norse myths, and the drawing was unlike anything she had ever done before or since.

TitaniasCloset · 05/03/2018 09:48

Can you talk about the possession?

catlover1987 · 05/03/2018 10:48

When my brother was a toddler, he used to consistently talk about a man in his bedroom with a dirty face. Our house was built on the site of an old coal mine. Very creepy.

Polarbearflavour · 05/03/2018 12:09

I attended the house party of a friend of a friend last year. This was a huge, rambling Georgian house in Bath. The parties always attracted an eclectic bunch of people, quite arty, glamorous and bohemian.

I went to find a loo and as I walked up the stairs I passed a lady on the stairs. She was wearing a silver flapper style dress and she just had a lovely vibe about her. People would wear all sorts to these parties so I wasn’t surprised by her dress. She had this rose perfume too that wafted around her.

We smiled at each other as you do. I tried to find her later as she seemed so nice and I wanted to compliment her on her outfit. I asked the host and he just laughed and said “oh you’ve seen her to then.” Apparently she was the resident ghost but not a scary one! And she always smelt like roses. I didn’t even mention her scent to him.

When I was staying in Edinburgh for work years ago, I stayed in the Radission Hotel. I think the city is slightly spooky anyway but my hotel room had a woman in rags crouching in the corner of the room. Looking on the Internet now it is haunted apparently! I’ve just read that there is a girl in rags who crouches in door ways and runs around!

“Though the building is relatively new, the ground it occupies is impossibly old and riddled with the catacombs known as the underground vaults. This structure was literally built on top of homes where hundreds perished from the Black Plague.”

I don't have many dreams, nor do I usually have particularly vivid dreams. On one occasion a few years ago, I did. That I was on holiday, sunbathing on the beach, my young child with me. It was pretty busy. In the dream, I was somehow aware there were terrorists in the area, and were heading to the beach from a nearby road. I saw them arrive on the beach, two men, with huge guns, just walking round and start shooting everyone. I dropped down to the floor with my child and pretended to be dead amongst the other bodies around me. The men wandered through, not noticing me.

When I woke up I found it all pretty upsetting, but convinced myself it wasn't scary really, because terrorists wouldn't attack people on a beach on holiday. That's not what they do, they target big cities and buildings.

Shortly afterwards, within a few weeks really, the attack by that gunman on that hotel beach in Tunisia happened. I mentioned to a few different people at the time I'd had the dream, but I think they just thought I was full of shit.

There are obviously inconsistencies between my dream and the event; there was one gunman rather than two. And in my dream they were dressed pretty brightly, not in black. Still felt poignant at the time though.

Sad

My dd and cat stare straight down the hallway. I always feel watched in this house as my brother committed suicide in the living room.
But when ex dp lived here (recently kicked him out) he kept saying there was a tall figure dressed in white walking up and down the hallway and wondering into the kitchen. He actually went in once thinking it was me to give me a cuddle.
I don't feel safe here Needless to say now.

CheeseAndBeans · 05/03/2018 14:09

Sitting here reading this thread while DD sleeps next to me. No one else in the house and I hear a massive crash upstairs! It was slime thing falling out of a cupboard but scared the hell out of me!
Only on page 4 but loving this.
I used to live in a flat in London that so many odd things happened in. I used to get a horrible feeling and smell a really horrid smell when I was there on my own. One night I woke up to a figure standing in my bedroom doorway, thought it was my flat mate but could hear him in the loo next door. When I looked again it was gone, really freaked me out.
I also used to have terrible nightmares in the flat, I used to dream that I had to get out but someone was stopping me. I regularly sleepwalked and woke up as I was opening my bedroom window or trying to open the main door. As soon as I moved out the nightmares and sleepwalking stopped. Very odd! Speaking to flatmate years later it turns out he used to get the smell and saw the figure too many times but didn’t say anything as he thought I would think he was mad.
Scaring myself just remembering it.

CheeseAndBeans · 05/03/2018 14:10

*something, not slime thing - that would be freaky!

@Titaniascloset, the possession.
When I was 19 I moved into a huge old Victorian house. It was massive, 10 bedrooms, and had been many things over the years including a typing school, a backstreet abortion clinic and a MH institution.
That house had a lot going on with it. It had cold pockets, and a place halfway up the stairs where no one felt good, we'd all go past that spot as quick as we could. The first (and last) time my mum visited, she took two steps into the house and couldn't go any further. She is not woo but imo has a lot of natural psychic ability. She said she felt overwhelming evil in the house and had to leave. She was sick for months after that, bedridden with some sort of MH/spiritual crisis. During that time we found out her mother had done her secretarial course at the house when it had been a typing school, which was weird.
Anyway, the possession started with a dream. The house had 2 lounges, and the main lounge had always had a bad vibe. In my dream I was in the main lounge, and a huge cloud rose in front of me. The cloud was static-y, and somehow alive. It was trying to repel me, and a voice was saying 'get out get out get out' I woke up and thought matter of factly, 'well I can never go into main lounge again!' Something in that house just didn't want us there. I didn't feel it was a spirit of a person, more like accumulated negative energy.
I moved out, and the fecking thing followed me. I had several episodes over the next few months of my body bring taken over so it could babble/laugh through me. I felt vulnerable spiritually, like a door had opened that wouldn't shut. I worked on shutting that side of me down, and it stopped.
20 years later I still dream about that house. In my dream there is a locked room at the very top with this enraged, evil entity imprisoned inside Confused

TitaniasCloset · 05/03/2018 19:14

Oh my gosh! I have similar dreams btw and thing I was very nearly possessed too that's why I ask, I'm fascinated by these things because of things that happened when I was mentally unwell.

Thanks so much for sharing that, that's personal and intense, may God bless you and protect you ameen.

GirlsBlouse17 · 05/03/2018 20:43

I was staying on a farm in Devon when I was 8 . I shared a bedroom with my brother and a friend. During the night, they were asleep but I woke up. I saw this lady in a white dress at the far end of the room next to the window and she was dancing. She danced round and round like a ballerina but gradually got closer and closer to my bed at which point I pulled the bed covers over my head!
