Kind of lighthearted but not...

I’ve been a farter my whole life. Never really been a problem, it’s just the way I am. DP absolutely HATES it and gets incredibly angry whenever I let off a little parp. My argument is that I get stomach ache from holding it in all day at work and want to be able to release the gas when I get home. I try to be respectful and polite by nipping to the bathroom whenever possible, but sometimes there just isn’t time! It has me in fits of giggles (yes, I know I’m childish) and seeing DP’s disgusted face just tickles me even more.

AIBU to be letting off so much gas in my own home, or is DP BU by expecting me to hold it in forever?

If DH did this I'd expect him to look into what was wrong. Giggling and enjoying my discomfort would be rude and immature.

Health issues are fine. It occasionally happening in company is fine. Tittering like a preschooler and taking pleasure in somebody else's discomfort is horrid behaviour.

"What did you do last night Linda?"

"I knowingly made my husband uncomfortable and laughed in his face."

Pleasant.

one of my sons farts loud constantly, he can't help it.

Well that may be so, but unless he's under 7 years old I really hope you have told him it's impolite to constantly fart with impunity in front of other people.

Of course if the odd one slips out then in front of family it's fine and among the closest of friends it's not the end of the world, but really no-one wants to have to hear it or smell it on a regular basis. Not even from someone you love with all your heart. The only farts that don't bother us to at least some degree are our own.

He's only 5 so definitely not going to tell him he isn't allowed to fart infront of anyone. They seem to all build up over night as it's mainly in the morning whereas I very rarely hear my other kids.

I think its really disrespectful if your DP isn't into it.

Grin

Is anyone into it?

TournesolsetLavande · 06/02/2018 10:33

Well we do have a shit troll Wonder. I'm sure he'd be first in the queue I if ever the OP's DP decides he's had enough. Grin

My DH is like this. It really annoys me that he is able to control it at work but not while he is at home. It's constant some evenings & can really really stink

I couldn't be with someone I couldn't fart in front of. 💨

liz70 · 06/02/2018 11:06

And I couldn't be with somebody who deliberately, openly and unapologetically broke wind in front of me. Fuck that.

falsepriest · 06/02/2018 11:11

There must be some way you can monetise this Grin
