Kind of lighthearted but not...

I’ve been a farter my whole life. Never really been a problem, it’s just the way I am. DP absolutely HATES it and gets incredibly angry whenever I let off a little parp. My argument is that I get stomach ache from holding it in all day at work and want to be able to release the gas when I get home. I try to be respectful and polite by nipping to the bathroom whenever possible, but sometimes there just isn’t time! It has me in fits of giggles (yes, I know I’m childish) and seeing DP’s disgusted face just tickles me even more.

AIBU to be letting off so much gas in my own home, or is DP BU by expecting me to hold it in forever?

It's disgusting OP. I HATE it and made my DH work out the cause of his...he GANNETS food and so swallows air. When he slows down his eatig, the wind goes away.

toffee1000 · 06/02/2018 00:15

People on MN are very weird about farting. Saying that they always go to the bathroom and have never ever farted in front of their OH. That is what I find weird.
Having said that, OP does sound rather immature and somewhat rude.

Dancingfairy · 06/02/2018 00:16

My son obviously can't help it so maybe the op actually can't help it. It isn't diet as he eats exactly the same as everyone else. But like I said I don't find it funny and couldn't imagine having a "farting competition" like a pp mentioned with my oh. shudders

JanetStWalker · 06/02/2018 00:18

This is why I'm happily single, I get to fart with impunity...not that I do, obviously. Ahem.

woodchuckchuck · 06/02/2018 00:28

yawn

tobee · 06/02/2018 00:36

Fart compatibility is more important than sexual compatibility in a long term relationship.

RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 06/02/2018 00:40

Some people need to lighten up. It's funny. And what does her DP do? Squeeze it all up I suppose (not). Everyone farts, even the Queen. Just some more than others, and some louder than others..............

halfwitpicker · 06/02/2018 01:00

I'm sorry but if you find farting funny you need to get a life or watch some Del Boy or something.

FartyMcLetFly · 06/02/2018 01:11

Come live with us OP, our house is a regular barrage of air biscuits, #drivebys (one for the Deadpool fans) and pull my fingers - even the dog joins in GrinGrin

I'm sorry but I'm howling at this thread
and some of the replies, good god have aBiscuit

FartyMcLetFly · 06/02/2018 01:15

Not exactly sexy, is it?

NameChangeCuddleBums · 06/02/2018 01:32

Unattractive and immature.

JanetStWalker · 06/02/2018 01:56

Awww, don't be so hard on yourself, NameChangeCuddleBums.

justchangedforthisone · 06/02/2018 04:32

I don't like farts but understand it's a body function that's necessary...what's not necessary is cocking your leg and pushing one out.

If one comes then I get it but dh forces them out constantly and it's vile. Granted they aren't smelly but they are so loud it's repulsive.

I can fart without the noise no problem so when dh scrunches his face up and let's rip see it as deliberate and rude.

..."pull my finger"

BitOutOfPractice · 06/02/2018 04:53

I can't imagine finding someone constantly farting attractive. Someone "giggling" about farting would irritate me immensely. Someone purposely doing something that they knew annoyed me and then laughing about it would be the most irritating person ever. Not funny.

pollywollydoodle · 06/02/2018 06:44

Try these OP....if you do want to improve your DH’s Air quality try these..
.of course if you are just enjoying your aggressive wind up it won’t be of interest

That doesn’t mean it isn’t diet. Just because something works for one person doesn’t mean it works for another! Have you tried working out when his stomach is worse?

It is gross to sit there farting in front of you family. Accidentally ketting our onemorntwk? Ok. Farting and laughing like your an idiot. Not cool.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/02/2018 07:44

There's a middle ground between never farting in front of anyone and the OP. The healthy place is there.

Sometimes everyone farts and it's not possible to conceal it; but it shouldn't be all the time, and it seems polite to make a conscious effort not to do it around people who will find it repulsive, and then he should be mindful that occasionally it may happen accidentally.

If you've got to the point where neither of you want to make that effort; I'm not confident that you won't start winding each other up in other ways, to be honest.

Grandadwasthatyou · 06/02/2018 07:59

I honestly can't help myself. If I think back I've always been like this.

I honestly don't know where all the gas comes from. It starts about 9pm and then I just cannot stop.
If I nipped to the toilet every time I would be there all night.

We've reached a point now where my DH just raises his eyebrows once the cacophony starts.

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 06/02/2018 08:50

Farts can be hilarious at times, for example an elderly aunt accidentally popping one off during the vows at a wedding.

They lose their hilarity pretty fast when it's your partner letting rip on a regular basis. I stopped fancying one of my ex's because he thought farting was funny (and they stank).

If someone has IBS etc. then obviously that's different.

NameChangeCuddleBums · 06/02/2018 09:48

@JanetStWalker LOL! 😁

Desmondo2016 · 06/02/2018 09:50

I don't find farts funny but i accept they're natural. I don't like making a thing of them but if they slip out then there's not a lot that can be done.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/02/2018 09:51

Have you looked in to why you're so windy OP?

00100001 · 06/02/2018 10:00

There's something wrong of you're constantly farting.

Change your diet
