Devin Nunes Gets A Pretty Basic Fact Wrong In Defending His Memo
Nunes suggested that Donald Trump had never met with George Papadopoulos. There's a photo of them sitting at the same table.

I have to say, the number of ICE/immigration dog whistle/dehumanisation items (essentially the Nazi items - and even the articles/pieces including the actual term Nazis is increasing as a subset) that occur each day astonishes me on a daily basis. It is absolutely frightening to see so many cis, straight, white liberals excuse Nazis and bigots or the friends of Nazis and bigots if they deem those people "interesting" or having made a few positive contributions to society.

You're going to tell me to my Face of Color™ that we should try to "understand" and "reason with" people who believe in the total and complete annihilation of Jewish people and the annihilation or oppression of anyone who isn't a cis, straight, white dude?

I don't think so.

You're going to tell me that even though Quinn Norton is friends with Nazis and throws out bigoted slurs like beads at Mardi Gras, we shouldn't lose sight of her accomplishments and remind ourselves that she has Worth™?

I don't think so.

When you (cis, straight, white liberals) turn a blind eye to someone's bigotry because you think they're "interesting" or that they can benefit you in some way, what you say to those of us who thought you were allies of ours is that you don't actually care about us.

When you (cis, straight, white liberals) turn a blind eye to someone's bigotry for whatever excuse you may give as to why, what you say to those of us who aren't cis, straight, and white is "I care more about myself than I do about your safety."

Hitler was a great painter but that means fuck all since he carried out the Holocaust and everything. There are other painters who are just as good and many who are better and we praise those artists instead of a genocidal antisemite!

This is not a hard concept to grasp.

If someone is friends with someone who holds bigoted and genocidal views or holds those views themselves, I really couldn't give a flying fork about the "worth" of their existence.

They are trash and so are you for thinking they don't deserve to be dragged to hell and back.

There are many of you #OnHere who have outed yourselves as not being true allies. You might think you still are, especially if nobody has called you out. But us marginalized people see what you say, and we've taken notes.

We see you, and we don't trust you.

Your past activism means nothing when what you've said today runs counter to the fight for justice. Your urge to sympathize with bigots and remind us that they've made positive contributions to society and maybe they're just "misunderstood" renders your past activism moot.

This is something I've seen come from the left, right, and center of The Left™. Y'all will elevate bigots if:

1): The bigot supports Medicare For All.
2): The bigot is pro-choice.
3): The bigot criticizes Donald Trump.
4): The bigot said literally anything you agree with.

Y'all need to get this through your heads: We do not need the support of bigots, Trump voters or otherwise, to get to where we want to be and you do not need to elevate bigots just because they made a good point one time.

We already went through this with Joe Walsh. Just because someone says something you agree with does not absolve them of the hateful and harmful rhetoric they have spewed for years and does not mean you need to applaud them for not being Shit™ for once.

To wrap up this thread: Stop letting your weird ass Bleeding Heart White Liberal Urge™ to coddle every human being you see lead to you ignoring someone's bigotry because you think they tweet good or can be "saved" or "converted" or whatever. It's whack.

This is actual Nazism at work. The argument that the disabled are a burden on society, too expensive to keep alive, with lives not really worth living, justified the first Nazi mass killing. And now Trump and Pence are starting to make it into policy.
A lifetime cap on Medicaid would be a literal death sentence for thousands. They know this, and are pushing for it anyway - because they do not care who, other than themselves, lives or dies.
Everyone, this is the real thing. This is not an exercise; we are seeing literal policies from the Third Reich being pushed in the US today. The targets today are immigrants, the disabled, the Black, the Brown, the Muslim.
What you'll see next: laws revoking immigration status for immigrants who do legal things that are "too expensive," and restrict jobs which can be held by immigrants in favor of citizens.
If you want to understand the history of why such laws are passed and significant, en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_for_the_Restoration_of_the_Professional_Civil_Service

(1/14) Government ethics officials, charged with detecting conflicts of interest, have never seen the president’s rent roll. So we created one of our own. Let’s take a tour through Trumpland, to find out who is paying the president. All figures are estimates.

(2/14) We’ll start at the president’s old home: Trump Tower. Gucci pays an estimated $21M – more than anyone in the Trump empire. The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China rents space on the 20th floor, which you can read about in our story.

(3/14) Onto Niketown, which is connected to Trump Tower. The president’s lone tenant here, Nike, announced it is moving this spring, which leaves the Trump Organization searching for a new identity at one of its most important properties.

(4/14) A few blocks away is Trump Parc East. Signs went up recently saying it has a new tenant, Pret A Manger. That’s a British company, but the Trump Organization, which promised no new foreign deals, is apparently okay with it because the deal is happening on U.S. soil

(5/14) Just down the street, also overlooking Central Park, is Trump International Hotel & Tower, home to Jean-Georges Restaurant, where the president famously met with Mitt Romney during the transition.

(6/14) A few blocks south sits 1290 Avenue of the Americas, where Trump has a 30% stake alongside publicly traded Vornado. Columbia University rents there, with an estimated $2.1M attributable to Trump.

(7/14) Moving east, you hit Trump Park Avenue, where Capital One has a corner location. That company’s anti-money-laundering program is under investigation by the Treasury and Justice Departments, both of which are part of the executive branch that Trump oversees.

(8/14) A few blocks away, you have Trump Plaza, where another foreign company (Lululemon of Canada) is moving in.

(9/14) Across from the United Nations, the president owns space at Trump World Tower, where foreign diplomats can go get drinks at a bar or dinner at a restaurant after a day of work.

(10/14) Downtown, there’s the Trump Building at 40 Wall Street, home to Duane Reade, which is also featured prominently in our story, with regards to its multibillion merger that needed federal approval.

(11/14) Out in Brooklyn, two government entities—the New York City Department of Education and the United States Postal Service—rent space from a partnership in which Trump owns a 4% interest, according to his financial disclosure report.

(12/14) In San Francisco, Trump owns a 30% interest (again, with Vornado) in the three-building complex at 555 California Street. One of the tenants there: the state-owned Bank of India.

(13/14) You can see our full list here:

<a class="break-all" href="https://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/?toURL=www.forbes.com/trump-tenants/&refURL=t.co/DUfhluivnq&referrer=t.co/DUfhluivnq#1bc1597d1d32" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.forbes.com/forbes/welcome/?toURL=www.forbes.com/trump-tenants/&refURL=t.co/DUfhluivnq&referrer=t.co/DUfhluivnq#1bc1597d1d32

(14/14) But investigation is ongoing. @mattdrange and I believe we’ve tracked the sources for 75% of rent flowing into the Trump Organization, meaning there are millions we still haven’t pinned down. Send any tips you have to trumptenants [at]forbes [dot] com.
