I'll give them the purse sized bags. Lord knows I like to carry my crisps with me, and I want them neither too small so I have to dig round my giant bag to find them, or so big they fit out the top.
The crunch and residue is fucking nonsense. The residue and licking your fingers afterwards is the best part.
In regards to the research, it's really dependent on what spurred it. Did they:
A) Notice that women weren't buying Doritos and then create focus groups to find out why, and did they base those focus groups on who they 1) think is their target market or 2) who they want to be their target marketing or 3) a general population group.
B) Or did they decide they want to market a product to females only and therefore pitch ideas to them and see what stuck? (the who made up the focus groups comes into this as well). If THESE ideas are what stuck, then they had some pretty shitty ideas.
I would then questions whether or not they went back to focus groups with the finished product, and again, who made up these groups.
No matter what it equals a swing and a miss. But what can you expect from the company that brought you Crystal Pepsi.
