To not understand Masonic lodges

Just been talking to a friends who's husband is a head honcho mason.

He's called the Grand Master or something equally ridiculous.

Apparently throughout a masons 'career' they get to fill in certain blanks in the book and only at the top level do you get to fill in all the blanks.

AIBU to think WTAF?

What is the point in this seemingly childish behaviour in grown men?

😂😂😂😂

King William of orange is linked to the Orange order, King William IV is linked to free masons to my knowledge.

Tapandgo · 08/02/2018 20:06

Think that makes the point ~ the head honcho must give his permission quite often or a lot can’t follow orders!

Parkhead ~ yes, childhood was plagued by their noise and vitriol. Even as a child I saw Masonic badges pinned on Orange sashes. Gave me a clear understanding of the mentality of both organisations.

Blackteadrinker77 · 08/02/2018 20:11

That's Victoria regalia by the look of it.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 08/02/2018 20:20

FIL was a mason ...I say "was" because he got fed up with it all in his 70s. He never bothers with it now.

DH has never seen the point although his grandfather was desperate for him to become part of their Lodge.

Tapandgo · 08/02/2018 20:25

Blackteadrinker Freemasons set up the Orange Order to honour William of Orange. Much of the Orange Orders’ rituals and regalia are taken from Masonry. The pictures I have posted clearly show Masonic Aprons and badges worn on Orange Marches. You said you’d never seen any with your own eyes and couldn’t find any on google ~ there is your evidence. I’ve seen both.

ParkheadParadise · 08/02/2018 20:32

For anyone who claims to never have seen Masons dressed up,marching and singing vile sectarian songs get yourself to Glasgow on the 12th july. Once seen never forgotten.

Blackteadrinker77 · 08/02/2018 20:36

Freemasons set up the Orange Order

Did they? Wiki isn't a great source but they don't state so.

In your links I only saw one person wearing a free masonary apron. Naughty of him, although he could have received written permission of course.
The rest were from the many, many different masonic style brother hoods.

Blackteadrinker Actually the origins of the Orange Order from Freemasonry is well documented in books on the history of Ireland. Think the Orangemen were seen as useful thugs for the Freemasons. The Dutch recognise the connection as King William was being honoured by it, and he was a Freemason.
Staggered you can’t see the many Masonic aprons and insignia being clearly shown on the Orange Parades. Reading further on the subject (not wiki) does prove eye opening (no pun intended).

Now off to read some jokes in the newspaper ~ I see the Masons are claiming they are discriminated against 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Blackteadrinker77 · 08/02/2018 20:58

Which books do you suggest? I'll see if there s an e book.

BananaHamock · 08/02/2018 21:09

I heard they only allow the working class in, so that they can sacrifice them at the beginning of each meeting. They’ll also examine each applicants hands before deciding if they can join. If there’s any sign of labour on them, they are thrown through through the nearest saw mill and their blood is put into barrels and aged, so they can drink it at their weekly ceremonies.

Once a month they pit roast an OPA, and serve them up with apple sauce and crackling.

If you’re really high up in the club, your allowed to choose which lowly servants mouth you can poop in.

Disgusting in this day and age.

ZBIsabella · 09/02/2018 09:26

Of course that is not true and the Duke of Kent is the most senior masons. However they do some rather silly ceremonies but it's a free country let them and let us laugh at them too. What we need to avoid if any favouring of one group of another and that happens all over the place even now from religious groups, sects, castes and the like to any other kind of preference based on people you know.
