Most bizarre situation happened last night...don't know what to think?!

Last night me and DH went out for a few drinks at a local pub. I went to the toilet, and as I was washing my hands a man stormed in accompanied by a woman, he shouted out "it's fine I'm gay" and the woman laughed to herself.

I thought nothing more of it and went outside to join DH. All of a sudden the man, accompanied by two women came over to me and accused me of reporting him to the bar staff as he had been warned not to enter the women's toilets again.

The three of them were clearly ready for an argument and seemed disappointed when I said I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about. DH was furious.

Anyway, I really have no idea what to make of the whole situation today. Would it have really been a problem if I DID make a complaint about it??? Is that not in my rights to do so??

Yes you could have made a complaint. He sounds unreasonable so the type to be annoyed about a complaint whether it’s a justified thing to do or not.

Blackteadrinker77 · 04/02/2018 10:01

Do not waste your time thinking about those idiots.

Happy Sunday Grin

babyccinoo · 04/02/2018 10:01

They're so cool the rules don't apply to them Hmm

You would have been right to complain about him.

Goldmonday · 04/02/2018 10:01

Thank you @Blackteadrinker77 Smile

Sounds like he wanted attention. You were right not to give it.

Fekko · 04/02/2018 10:02

I complained to the gym when some stupid woman was FaceTiming a man in the ladies changing rooms

1ndig0 · 04/02/2018 10:03

Just leave it. Boring attention-seekers.

rabbit12345 · 04/02/2018 10:03

YANBU being Gay does not mean you need to use the ladies toilets instead of men’s.

Having said that, I have no problem with unisex toilets but if an establishment provides both men’s and ladies why would you need to use a toilet If you identify as the other sex.

Goldmonday · 04/02/2018 10:05

@rabbit12345 this was my view. As they were making accusations to me one of the women claimed "he feels more comfortable using women's toilets"..... so does that negate anyone else's comfort??

Whatshallidonowpeople · 04/02/2018 10:14

Hardly bizarre, clearly they were drunk and looking for a fight.

AlpacaPicnic · 04/02/2018 10:14

Attention seeking at its very best... you were better off ignoring them as you did and taking the wind out of his sails.

I personally couldn't care who is in the loo. But I can accept that others may. And if anyone did feel uncomfortable then the best thing to do would be to speak to a staff member, who will deal with it.
If he'd already been warned about using the ladies, then he should have not used them.

Olympiathequeen · 04/02/2018 10:17

They were clearly drunk so I wouldn’t have got involved in any way. I’ve used the men’s toilet (in a theatre) after seeing the queue for the women’s and just got a few surprised looks. It’s not a big deal.

Riverside2 · 04/02/2018 10:33

Okay someone has to say it

I don't why gay would be relevant but is it possible they were conducting a warped exercise or test on gender ID?

Cherrycokewinning · 04/02/2018 10:35

Totally agree, drunk and looking for a row

Birdsgottafly · 04/02/2018 10:36

They were liking for a fight, there's cases every week were people have gone out looking for trouble, some end in tragedy.

Goldmonday · 04/02/2018 10:44

@Riverside2 that did appear to be the angle they were pushing. And the man in question had quite an aggressive demeanour when confronting me

OP posts:
daisychain01 · 04/02/2018 10:53

This sounds frightening. Ladies toilets used to be absolutely out of bounds to men, but this is a worrying trend. Yes, this person as an isolated incident may have been drunk, spoiling for an argument, etc etc but there'll come a time when men will just march into the Ladies and demand it as their right.

Bloody puts me off going to the loo away from home, that's for sure!

Beeziekn33ze · 04/02/2018 10:54

Sounds as if the bar staff are already aware of his antics and he may not be drinking there much longer.
Put the grotty incidence out of your mind!

Beeziekn33ze · 04/02/2018 10:54

incident

Helmetbymidnight · 04/02/2018 10:57

It is bizarre that people are that stupid and aggressive.

Forget about it, op. They're just twats.

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 04/02/2018 11:01

Soon all men like that will need to do to enter the ladies loo will be to essentially download and sign a form declaring they're a woman and there will be nothing anyone can do about it....progress!

ADishBestEatenCold · 04/02/2018 11:36

"I’ve used the men’s toilet (in a theatre) after seeing the queue for the women’s and just got a few surprised looks."

I have heard a few women say they have done this, under similar circumstances, and have wondered (depending on whether there was open urinals) whether that's not a bit of an invasion of privacy, for any men using them, Olympiathequeen.

Abracadabraapileofbollocks · 04/02/2018 12:41

I am confused. What do these men think women are doing in toilets? Or should we be wondering what goes on in male toilets that so many people are keen to use the ladies toilets?

NewYearNewMe18 · 04/02/2018 12:41

^^ it works both ways
