Pissed off with reaction to present?

Bought friend birthday present. She opened it and literally looked at it in disgust and just muttered thanks and shoved it back in the bag.

Genuinely thought I’d bought her something she would like - obviously not. Which is fine and you can’t help what you like or dislike but surely most people would at least pretend to like it?

It’s annoyed me so much that I’ve text her to apologise. Aibu?

Why don't you tell us what it is.
Also I never knew that bone China was made from bones!
I thought it was just , well I don't know what I thought.

I disagree Joy. It's basic manners to thank a friend for a present and show some interest in it, whatever it is.

Would you teach your children to unwrap a present, turn up their nose and throw it to one side? No of course not.

You just show some courtesy and tact.

We need to know what the gift was. Someone posted earlier that they hate scented candles as gifts, so do I and for years it was an in joke with a good friend.
We fell out (I still am uncertain why but that's another thread) and during the falling out I turned 40. My gift was a scented candle and I gushed over it and promptly said it would be so welcomed as I love them.
I regifted it to MIL for Christmas. I wasn't going to make an issue of it and it was an expensive candle.
