Pissed off with reaction to present?

Bought friend birthday present. She opened it and literally looked at it in disgust and just muttered thanks and shoved it back in the bag.

Genuinely thought I’d bought her something she would like - obviously not. Which is fine and you can’t help what you like or dislike but surely most people would at least pretend to like it?

It’s annoyed me so much that I’ve text her to apologise. Aibu?

I scroll through 10 pages and am none the wiser 😖😖😖

NeverMetACakeIDidntLike · 04/02/2018 23:14

I did this once. Bought a necklace for a friend’s 30th birthday. She obviously didn’t like it. I felt terrible and so awkward.

...but what was it OP? This thread has been featured in the mumsnet email tonight and it’s very frustrating!

Peachplum60 · 04/02/2018 23:19

What's the mumnet email?

NeverMetACakeIDidntLike · 04/02/2018 23:21

Mumsnet daily email of 'hot threads'

Lilacblue99 · 04/02/2018 23:27

Hi all, apologies for leaving you hanging. I can't get my original name change back (hence late reply)

The present was a lynx women set and a box of jellies (her fave) well so I thought.

Tiger44 · 04/02/2018 23:27

It was this wasn't it.

TossDaily · 04/02/2018 23:31

Lynx woman? Is that a thing?

ConciseandNice · 04/02/2018 23:32

No! Seriously? Hmmm terrible gift but etiquette demands at least a pretence of gratitude. Shame on her.

GreyGardens88 · 04/02/2018 23:34

I'm a guy and Lynx is like the most disappointing present you can get I've never heard of Lynx women though

MiddleClassProblem · 04/02/2018 23:34

Are you really the OP?

Littlechocola · 04/02/2018 23:34

Yabvu for not telling us what it was!
Used condom? Yabu
One sock? Yabu
A single battery? Yabu

TossDaily · 04/02/2018 23:34

I think anti-perspirant is always going to be touch-and-go as a gift, OP.

In future, choose gifts that don't underline the recipient's hygiene issues and they'll be all smiles.

MiddleClassProblem · 04/02/2018 23:34

It’s like you got it in the clearance sale at Boots after Christmas

Sorry, also what is a box of jellies? Like Hartleys...

ConciseandNice · 04/02/2018 23:36

Isn’t a name change reflected back in previous posts on same thread?

I thought it was an expensive crocheted blanket.

Lynx is super shit though.

Mindhunter · 04/02/2018 23:37

She should have not been rude about it but I was given lynx woman and it's nasty. Even my teenage dd said it smells like loo air freshener.
