Does my cleaner do enough?

Have seen a couple of cleaners threads recently and was just wondering what everybody else expects of their cleaners.

I’m perfectly happy with ours at the moment, she’s worked for us for nearly two years. She does two hours of cleaning (5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 reception rooms, a kitchen and hallway over 3 floors.)

While she’s here she changes 2 beds, hoovers right through including stairs (she hoovers the two bedrooms we use every week and then the empty ones she hoovers EOW) she also cleans all toilets, baths, showers and sinks etc. She damp dusts all round the house and then one week she will dust skirting boards and doors etc then the next week she will do windows and paintwork etc. She will also do any washing and hang it to dry if I haven’t done so. After the cleaning she does 2 hours of ironing which is to a good standard. We pay her £8.50 per hour.

The only things I wish she’d do more of is dust under things instead of round them, I bought it up with her and she said she doesn’t like doing it because she doesn’t like to touch other people’s stuff which I can understand as she’s used to doing holidays cottages without people’s personal belongings. I would also love it if she would take the ironed bedding and clothes upstairs after she’s finished as at present she folds them up and leaves them on the back of the sofa but I haven’t mentioned this to her.

Does this sound reasonable to you? What do your cleaners do?

8.50 an hour! good grief!

She is charging too little and doing too much!
The poor woman must be on her eyelashes by the time she's finished cleaning a 5 bed house in 2hours.
And you want her to do more?!

Bumdishcloths · 02/02/2018 22:15

You sound like a bit of a dick to be honest, you're getting a lot of work for little to no money.

celticecho · 02/02/2018 22:15

Can I have her number?! She sounds amazing!!!

DearTeddyRobinson · 02/02/2018 22:15

This is a joke right?!
We have a similar sized house and our cleaner comes for 4 hours. She is amazingly efficient and has been with us for years.
we also pay her £10 per hour

babyccinoo · 02/02/2018 22:18

£8.50 is not very much. She sounds a star, give her £10ph at least.

And she does more than enough, so take your own ironed bedding upstairs.

HildaZelda · 02/02/2018 22:19

How on earth does she manage to do all that in 2 hours? She's clearly Superwoman.

Bluelady · 02/02/2018 22:20

If she's not good enough for you I'll have her any time. What do you want? Blood?

Oly5 · 02/02/2018 22:23

Are you joking?! My cleaner does far less than that

friendlycat · 02/02/2018 22:23

Wow. I want your cleaner. She is indeed Superwoman.

gamerchick · 02/02/2018 22:27

Yore not paying her enough. That's an absolute pisstake for all of that.

You want her to do more?! Confused

Emilizz34 · 02/02/2018 22:28

I think that your cleaner sounds amazing . I have 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 3 reception rooms . It takes at least 6 hours to clean it and that does not include ironing.

Gunpowder · 02/02/2018 22:28

I want her number too! She sounds fabulous and brilliant value. I pay £50 for 3.5 hours. Three bed terrace. No laundry/bedding/windows.

PaddysMarket · 02/02/2018 22:32

Aye right, there is no way a cleaner does all that in 2 hours Confused.

Imnotposhjustquaint · 02/02/2018 22:33

No, not a joke or a reverse. I do manage to keep reasonably on top of it all through the week though and there are three bedrooms and a reception room that she doesn’t touch one week but will do EOW which is absolutely fine by me. She says she just runs the duster over the skirting boards etc and just cleans the windows she can reach which is fine.

£8.50 is her going rate, I tend to buy her a bottle of wine and box of chocolates every now and again. I don’t ask her to clean kitchen work tops or units etc, she literally just hoovers in there.

Does she come every day?

Royalfuckup · 02/02/2018 22:35

You are expecting too much.

Wow!

I can’t believe that you can’t see that! Shock

Imnotposhjustquaint · 02/02/2018 22:35

And the beds she changes are single beds so quick to change

OP posts:
Bluelady · 02/02/2018 22:36

Frankly, my dear, you're already taking the piss. And you want more?

Royalfuckup · 02/02/2018 22:36

You’re either nuts or a GF.

I’m out i this thread

Imnotposhjustquaint · 02/02/2018 22:37

As I’ve said I’m happy with her standards and what she does.

Obviously I need to keep hold of her for as long as I can!

Royalfuckup · 02/02/2018 22:38

I’m hiding this thread.

Op is fucking dickAngry

Wildflowerfloosy · 02/02/2018 22:39

Your cleaner deserves much more than £8.50 an hour.

Originalfoogirl · 02/02/2018 22:39

She is cheap and you expect too much of her. Mine is two hours and does 3 of my bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a WC, kitchen and lounge. He costs far more than 8.50

You are taking the piss to ask for more than you get.

lovemylover · 02/02/2018 22:42

I think you give her another hour, and raise her wages
I have been a cleaner, and that seems a lot of work for only 2 hours,
I would leave if i was her,
You are exprcting too much

ittakes2 · 02/02/2018 22:43

Wow! Your cleaner sounds amazing. I adore my cleaners - they are the best I have ever had. But working flat out they would struggle to do that and I pay them £12 an hour each. I’m not surprised she doesn’t move things to dust - no time!
