Anyone following this?

OP posts:

I just saw the live stream and that poor little boy was quite clearly seizing, I had to switch off. That poor baby, he just needs to be allowed to go now with dignity and his parents holding him.

jaseyraex · 23/04/2018 12:28

I know everyone handles grief in different ways but surely now is most definitely not the time to be live streaming on facebook?! I hope they have good counselors in place to help this man after all of this is over. It's very hard to read about him/watch him, he is suffering immensely and handling it all in the worst possible ways.

Americantan · 23/04/2018 12:29

Question for anyone legally minded - In terms of the papers handed over, I presume given the court ruling any attempt to bring a private prosecution will be dismissed through no cause of action?

africanprincessinscotland · 23/04/2018 12:30

I've just looked at the AA FB page (not the video). People saying dial 999, that's they'll get done for murder, that they should sue the hospital. I'm actually just speechless.

MorningCuppa · 23/04/2018 12:30

Shatners - i am aware but all I was saying was if it's policy or if they can't have a chair etc for other reasons that's fine, I'm just stating at this point when end of life is happening I can't see the harm in them having it, when they have had it before. I don't agree with them having to sit and sleep on the floor, that is all.

Whatever happens now I just wish them peace.

fenneltea · 23/04/2018 12:31

I just hope Alfie goes peacefully and painlessly poor love.

Birdsgottafly · 23/04/2018 12:32

Shatners i understand that and I do think that Tom's grief has been exploited.

Given that this thread will stay and he may have family on here, I think the question could have been better put.

More, " are we sure that the Parents aren't being exploited?".

I was uncomfortable at them saying that they would continue testing and if they found something they would name it after Alfie.

Atthebottomofthesea · 23/04/2018 12:32

What a sad situation all round.

SaucyJane · 23/04/2018 12:35

African - indeed, a quick glance at that AA Facebook page is terrifying. I won't quote them, but the sentiments about what should be done to the doctors; and letting that poor sick child "fight" without any drugs or medical help; and the number of non-medical people thinking they can see everything instantly from a photo... it's terrifying that there are 250,000 people in the U.K. who think like that!

January87 · 23/04/2018 12:36

Why ae people saying he's being given a lethal injection?!

IronicWitttUsername · 23/04/2018 12:37

Because he's being given meds to keep him settled st the end they think it's murder

Katinkka · 23/04/2018 12:37

Watching the live feed and don't feel good about it. However, he is asking again for people to 'come down' and complaining about the sofa. I am incredulous this is going on in the child's last few hours.

MidnightAura · 23/04/2018 12:38

The live videos make me very uncomfortable. I had to stop watching. I hope they don’t regret that.

africanprincessinscotland · 23/04/2018 12:38

January because that is what people believe. Just like they believe he is meaningfully responding to stimulus (he's not), or that the Italian hospital can save him (they can't), or that AH are lying. It's bizarre.

trekkingintheandes · 23/04/2018 12:38

Saucy there are probably a lot more sadly.

MidniteScribbler · 23/04/2018 12:39

What is he doing going live on Facebook? He should be with his wife and partner right now. He seems to really have lost touch with reality and is being egged on by all of these people.

MidniteScribbler · 23/04/2018 12:41

Sorry child and partner, not wife and partner.

IronicWitttUsername · 23/04/2018 12:41

I can see why- it is easier to stand outside and shout and have all those agreeing than to be in that room with him for the last hours. To sit with him knowing what is happening takes a huge huge emotional strain, I don't think he is able to do it now. This is a distraction. I really hope he doesn't regret spending his last time not with him and outside. He can scream about murder all he likes after, he wont get this time back so say goodbye

Americantan · 23/04/2018 12:41

Saucy, it’s exactly for this reason that trial by Jury terrifies me.

africanprincessinscotland · 23/04/2018 12:43

One of the FB comments just mentioned an AH member of staff making a comment. anyone know about that? Obviously it's fuel for the argument that the hospital is lying / hiding something.

ShatnersWig · 23/04/2018 12:43

I've avoided going anywhere near the Army page until you mentioned the live feed. I heard about two seconds before it was interrupted and all I could hear was what appeared to be a lot of female voices shouting "Alfie" Is that right? If so, seems to me hey think so much about this one baby and one pair of parents but don't give a stuff about all the other babies, children and parents in the hospital who've got to hear all that commotion, probably in some cases while other children are dying. Disgusting.

StylishMummy · 23/04/2018 12:44

The poor wee lad is in his last hour or so of life, I dearly hope the family can spend this time together and allow him peace. But I cannot imagine the approaching deadline of your child's death. Regardless of their behaviour, how could anyone cope with that?

TheFairyCaravan · 23/04/2018 12:44

I noticed there was police in the unit in that video. It’s all so bloody sad that it’s got to this. A breakdown in a relationship with the staff and police in a PICU is just awful.

MidniteScribbler · 23/04/2018 12:44

What concerns me is that there could be a family having to walk out of that hospital who has just lost their child and will have to walk through that baying mob.

x2boys · 23/04/2018 12:44

Because apparently midazolam is also used in a lethal injection, it's also used as an end of life drug to help keep people calm and settled, I have administered. It when nursing people at end stage dementia as I'm sure many other nurses have I didn't murder anyone Hmm
