To think Kate Middleton needs to hire a make up artist

Does she still do her own make up?

It's awful. She either needs lessons or just hire an expert.

the difference Originalfoogirl is that I am not putting myself forward to represent anything or anyone.

I am judging a privileged girl whose only achievement is to marry a famous man but is supposed to represent us. I can think of many other "commoners" (can't think of another word, sorry) who did have a career and have achieved quite a lot before getting married. The fact that they are beautiful is irrelevant, even if it's true.

YogiBaresAll · 01/02/2018 07:59

Why such extreme reactions?
Surely it's possible to look at someone on the public eye and make a comment on their clothes, hair, etc?
And being pregnant is neither here nor there- she looks blooming even if it is down to her Bobbi Brown blusher.

Far too much hypocrisy on this thread. The holier than thou posters who would like us to believe they never even look at another woman- in the street, on telly, their own friends- and make a judgement about what they are wearing, their hair, their make up. Women spend their lives looking at other women, thinking they look good, or not. We ask our friends for opinions on our clothes, hair, make up. To suggest you don't is being dishonest.

I think Kate overdoes the eye make up and she'd look fresher with less dark brown shadow which she uses in the crease of her eyes almost up to the brow and the lid is too dark.

Having said that I think she does a brilliant job. She wasn't born into Royalty she is just an ordinary middle class gal thrust into it. I think she'd rather be at home with the kids and dogs, making cakes. So I take my hat off to her for keeping her mouth shut, looking nice and being vanilla.

SisterNotCis · 01/02/2018 08:06

Because she should conform to the whatever the latest contouring/brows/shade of lip colour is favoured by celebs ?

susiebee61 · 01/02/2018 08:07

isn't this kate's fault, a bit? she has chosen to be known for not working and never seems to show much genuine interest in her charities, she spent all her time shopping and having beauty treatments before marriage and has huge amounts of help being a mum. its up to her to shift the focus-look at princess anne and the queen, their work ethic is always what comes to mind before their outfits

JaneEyre70 · 01/02/2018 08:09

I see where you are coming from OP. I think it's the fact she's now been in the public eye for 10 or so years and she's still using the same colours/heavy eye make up. We all evolve with our looks over the years, and I've changed my "look" several times over the last decade to adapt.

She looks a lot more tired these days understandably, and sometimes her make up seems to emphasise it.

ShastaTrinity · 01/02/2018 08:13

I just happened to see some photos snapped of Kate in the street or something, and my first reaction was how much younger and prettier to looked there.

It's hardly slagging her off to think she looks better without (or with very little) make-up. I also think her make up on the Vogue photoshoot was awful.

Bluntness100 · 01/02/2018 08:22

There's always going to be some women who attack others isn't there. This is where our pressure comes from to look or dress a certain way, these people who are just waiting to judge you, to rip you to shreds, for your hair, your make up, your clothes.

And the op thinks she fair game as she's a public figure. That's that's allowed, hey she's public so I can rip her appearance apart.

I'm betting thr op does it to women in real life too. Do they have to look and dress how you feel is the best version of themselves?

Not to keen to have it done back though? Eh op? Want to tell us how fabulous you look?

Sarahh2014 · 01/02/2018 08:30

If anything I think her clothes age her rather than make up.She is v attractive though

midnightmisssuki · 01/02/2018 08:32

Come on OP. If you are brave enough to publicly criticise her - let’s see how you look so we can return the favour??? Promise we will be fair..... just like you have.

PinkBlueYellow · 01/02/2018 08:34

Personally, if I were Kate, I would definitely have my makeup done professionally as it just looks so much nicer.

I've only ever had it done once, on my wedding day. I looked fabulous. On a day to day basis I look haggard at best.

However, maybe she thinks it is a luxury that she cannot justify? They are always being criticised for wasting money so this might be her way of tightening the apron strings?!

Eolian · 01/02/2018 08:38

has the resources to be the best version of herself.

How about if we stopped thinking that anyone being the best version of themself was to do with their appearance?

The fact that she's a public figure makes it even more important to do so. I don't even think we should have a royal family, but whether I like it or not, others see her as a role model and an important person. That should be about the way she behaves, what kind of person she is and the example she sets, not about what she slaps on her face or who does it for her.

Battytwatty · 01/02/2018 08:38

Seriously stop asking the OP to post a picture of herself FFS! I swear to god its like a fucking school playground on here at the moment. If you don't like the thread just move on.....there are plenty of others.

Rebeccaslicker · 01/02/2018 08:53

It's really not difficult is it? Confused

  • would I do my makeup like her if I were her/looked like her? No.
  • does my opinion on her matter? No.
  • should she be able to put whatever she wants on her own face? Yes.
ShastaTrinity · 01/02/2018 09:12

How about if we stopped thinking that anyone being the best version of themself was to do with their appearance?

It depends what you include in their appearance. If you are talking make-up or expensive clothes, it's one thing. People are still allowed to have an opinion and like or dislike whatever anyone is wearing. It doesn't matter, but we are allowed to have our own taste.

If you mean your body appearance in term of general grooming (clean hair) and fitness, then being the best version of yourself is half your appearance. Your intellect matters just as much, but a fit body when you have the ability to get it is very important too.

JJPP123 · 01/02/2018 09:16

Tbh id rather she did it herself, makes her appear a little more frugal. One time recently she had someone else do her make up and Vogue gave her huge slug eyebrows so the professional results aren't always better.
However she does pay for a stylist and they've been making a pigs ear of a lot of it lately. She dresses far better when she's dressed herself (from the occasional pap shots of her out shopping etc)

ShastaTrinity · 01/02/2018 09:19

How do posters even know she does her own make-up and someone else is not doing it for her?

She doesn't travel without her team, including her hairdresser- and fair enough, no one expects her to go on official visits abroad with her backpack on her back.

Bluntness100 · 01/02/2018 09:23

Seriously stop asking the OP to post a picture of herself FFS

Why? If she can give it she should be able to take it. She's sitting being all judgey about another woman's appearance. I suspect as said, it's not unusual for her. So let's have a look at her. She clearly thinks she's the dogs bollocks and gets it just right, so she should show us her "best version" of her.

HannaPintura · 01/02/2018 09:24

So mean and uncalled for. Kate is a very pretty lady. Leave her alone!

specialsubject · 01/02/2018 09:31

My make up look has been the same for about 30 years - none. Kate is wearing a bit but not much, which I think is good. With so many women all you see is thick red and black circles, not a face. The queen has always done that with the thick lipstick which can be all you see on a remarkably unlined face.

Lucy Worsley is another example - a young face with comic red lips. And I bet she is made up professionally.

cambodianfoxhound · 01/02/2018 09:33

It is the eyeliner - she would do well to leave eyeliner off the lower lid and reduce the amount of dark eye make up on the upper lid. This makes the eyes look smaller I think. It is a look which is fine when you are in your 20's but as you get older - the upper eye seems to droop a bit (a sort of heavier lidded look). To counteract this she should lay off lining the lower lid. Use a subtle brightener around the lower lid.

I also think you should lay off the foundation as you hit your late 30s - just use a big of highlighter, concealer where needed.

I know this from personal experience. I think we all tend to stick to what we know and are so used to our own faces we don't see it.

I like the fact she does her own make up - makes her seem more real and normal. She should prob just get some advice on how to update it.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 01/02/2018 09:35

Maybe she likes the way she looks when she does her own make up? And may enjoy doing it herself?

LittleLionMansMummy · 01/02/2018 09:47

What I want to know is how soon she'll shift that baby weight and be snapped frolicking in the Med!

Kidding. Just leave the poor woman be.

VileyRose · 01/02/2018 09:50

I think she looks lovely and I don't want role models that need someone else to do make up. We need more realness.

Hellywelly10 · 01/02/2018 09:50

Yes her eyeliner is dated. That floral number the other dad did not match her hair and makeup at all.

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 09:53

She 'needs to'? Why's that then?

Surely her, you know, owning a face, is really enough. Good to see her humanity being reduced down to how good she is with eyeliner, though.
