To think Ann Widdecombe is truly vile

Celeb Big Brother.

Anyone else saying the things she has said would have had people screaming at them.

She doesn't think women should work if they have children.

She doesn't agree with gay marriage.

She thinks being gay is disgusting.

She is so backwards in her thinking, she is truly horrible.

Now whilst I don't agree with the language that Andrew used about her, I agree with his sentiment and I can't believe everyone is pussy footing around her!

EmpireVille · 27/01/2018 23:31

If you can't prove she said being gay is disgusting then your post is potentially libelous.

callmeadoctor · 27/01/2018 23:33

Ann to win Grin

MiniAlphaBravo · 27/01/2018 23:33

Agree with her on the gay marriage thing actually.

Nootka · 27/01/2018 23:33

She has never said that being gay is disgusting. I disagree with about 90 per cent of her views, but she is entitled to have them.

Andrew is vile not just for what he said about Ann, but the way he speaks about women in general.

Ann is set in her ways but she is not awful or malicious and doesn't hold grudges. I just think her views are wrong and outdated and I save the c word for those who truly deserve it.

Oh and way to go she must be gay not to be married or in a relationship. Angry

Crunched · 27/01/2018 23:34

I think Ann Widdicombe is what she is, but please do not believe the "bible preaches" that homosexuality is disgusting.

the seven Scriptures sometimes claimed to be about homosexuality are not at all related to the consensual, committed homosexual relationships we see today.

Viviennemary · 27/01/2018 23:35

Haven't seen her in Celeb big brother as I don't watch it. I did used to quite like her. . She doesn't have to agree with gay marriage.

ToadsforJustice · 27/01/2018 23:36

She’s entitled to her views. She has explained these many times. She respects others peoples views. She is out of step with modern thinking, but she is doing no harm. I do not find her offensive, but rather entertaining.

italiancortado · 27/01/2018 23:38

I don't think she is vile. That's quite a strong way to describe someone who simply has different views on the ways of the world. I don't agree with most of the things she says, but it's not vile.

notangelinajolie · 27/01/2018 23:38

I like Ann and would like her to win. I like that most of the other housemates just don't get her. And I like that she has opinions and convictions that she believes in. It doesn't matter if I like those opinions or not. And so what if she prefers to slope off to bed early with a large glass of wine - something I would do.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 27/01/2018 23:40

I like her and hope she wins.

mentalfluid · 27/01/2018 23:45

cupcake and blueskies how do her views affect you personally though? live and let live.

mintich · 27/01/2018 23:46

I don't think she's vile. She said in the house that even though she doesn't agree with gay marriage, she believes that people can have whatever relationship they want.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 27/01/2018 23:47

Ann doesn't agree with gay marriage because she is catholic. That isn't the same as being homophobic. Believing "marriage" is a religious institution (and thus has rules set out in the bible) isn't confined to religious people. I agree tbh, but from a completely different perspective. That is, I agree that marriage is religious and partnership should be a separate thing - not that I agree that gay and lesbian people should not marry.

She disagrees with any public displays of affection, that was what she called disgusting - not the fact it was two men. Not wanting to watch PDAs isn't confined to religious people either.

I disagree with (afaik) most of her beliefs, but that doesn't make her vile. She's entitled to her own opinions, and has been perfectly reasonable in vocalising them.

GreyGardens88 · 27/01/2018 23:47

I haven't watched big brother but I've always thought she's a truly horrendous person, the worst of the worst

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 27/01/2018 23:47

Good point mental fluid.
Chipstick- i choked on my tea laughing, agree with you completely.

Mini alpha bravo - absolutely - i don't like what she says sometimes (i have never even watched celeb BB - should i even be posting??!!) but i do also think she is entitled to her views.

Cupcake with icing - sge us a "piece of scum"?
I think you are going too far.

GreyGardens88 · 27/01/2018 23:48

She also once said the best way to deal with the AIDS crisis was to ship all gay men to a desert island. She truly is as thick as a plank

weetabix07 · 27/01/2018 23:48

I don't agree with her views. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would have an issue with for example homosexuality for example

But she is what she is. At least you know what you are getting. And for me that's a quality.

I can't abide backstabbers. I'd rather honesty from someone rather than them putting on a face but thinking something totally different underneath.

It's Andrew I don't like (off topic I know)

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 27/01/2018 23:49

Now assuming a celibate person is gay and therefore repressed - that is vile.

StatelessPrincess · 27/01/2018 23:53

mentalfluid Horrible generalisation, not all Catholics believe those things and neither do all Muslims.

I have no problem with people holding different views to me but I think how they express them matters, she has always come across as nasty to me.

helenoftroyville · 27/01/2018 23:53

If she felt so strongly about her beliefs why on earth would she enter the BB house, with its reputation. For £100K that's why, the eye rolling and judgement are all just pantomime.

She is as false as they come.

Boulshired · 27/01/2018 23:56

I hate this she is “entitled to her views”, if she rolled her eyes and was critical of black people she would be pulled up on it, homosexuals should be allowed to have a conversation freely without intimidation. She is very careful in staying within boundaries. It is more than gay marriage it was also things like section 28. She was often anti LGBT policies.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 27/01/2018 23:57

She just comes across as particularly stupid and unthinking, totally brainwashed.

She went to Oxford when it was uncommon for women to do so.

I would also question why you think somebody who holds views which go against the currently dominant viewpoints should be regarded as 'brainwashed'. Surely they're exactly the opposite.

OnTheList · 27/01/2018 23:57

BeyondWitchbitchterf

Good post. Agree with it all.

I do disagree with Anns stance on same sex marriage, but disagreeing with her views doesn't make her vile in my eyes.

Wouldn't mind her winning actually. And if the others keep up the group bitching sessions, or if as I suspect, they step it up a notch, she is even more likely to win.

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 27/01/2018 23:58

Grey gardens
She is very far from thick. How re we defining thick? I am sure she us very well educated and clever.
You may find her views abhorrent - many people do - but calling her thick is just inaccurate and downright silly.
