To be terrified I might have cancer?

Happyland88 · 27/01/2018 07:54

I have 2 Breast lumps in the same area of my breast. I’m 29 years old (was 28 when I found both lumps.

The doctor examined and said she wasn’t concerned (didn’t feel like cancer to her). This was about 6 months ago and I’ve found it hard not to worry even though I was given some reassurance.

One of the lumps feels like it may have got bigger and now I’m terrified.

If I didn’t have my two girls (aged 1 & 4), I wouldn’t want to get out of bed. I’m too scared to make a dr’s appointment. I don’t want this to be cancer. I’ve read that cancer in young women is very aggressive. I want to be around to see my children grow old.

I’m on my own as my husband works away, I’m just so so scared.

G your posting style is remarkably similar to Laura's.

SlightlyJaded · 16/02/2018 22:08

G. I have to agree with Springy. 'Myt'? Confused

No need to sock puppet just because I people didn't like your pp. OP is here for advice and support, not a kicking, but you still have the right to say what you want without hiding behind a name change.

OP. Don't wait if the gp won't refer you sooner, look into a charity mammogram programme.

MissDuke · 16/02/2018 22:16

Very similar style indeed, including no punctuation Hmm

norfolkenclue · 16/02/2018 22:34

Hmmm...'G' spells might 'myt' and 'Laura' spells right 'ryt'. Think it's pretty obvious really! I've never, ever seen those words spelt like that (and I teach 6 year olds for a living...seen some very creative spellings!). How likely is it that two people on one thread would get the igh trigraph so spectacularly wrong?

crustyface · 16/02/2018 22:55

Bugger off Laura G with your meaningless incoherent garbles.

OP hang on in there. I’d be reassured by what the GP said and just wait three weeks. However, if the wait is doing your head in then make an appointment sooner and admit to GP that the anxiety is driving you nuts.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 16/02/2018 23:58

OP, I would go back and insist on a referral to the breast clinic. I've had bleeding between periods, scarily heavy periods, extreme tiredness and anemia for over a year now. It took me a year of pestering my GP just to get a referral to gynea as at 39, they said it couldn't be anything serious. I've finished all my tests today and am getting my results on Monday. I've worked in the NHS and am pretty good at judging (mainly from what they won't tell you) how serious something is, and I'm pretty sure come Monday I am either going to be told I have cancer or precancerous cells.

I wish I had been more assertive a year ago. Go back and insist on a referral. Don't let them fob you off.

alotalotalot · 17/02/2018 09:58

elton fingers crossed for you Thanks Let us know how you get on.

Op, house are you now?

Happyland88 · 19/02/2018 19:15

Just a bit of an update. I’ve developed a cracked nipple (which runs where the nipple joins the areola, sort of around the bottom of the nipple). This happened 6 months ago in exactly the same place, it healed up quickly so I didn’t think much of it. Also when I took my bra off the other day, there was a tiny speck of yellow discharge in my bra. I’m seeing the GP tomorrow evening (the surgery have started doing evening appointments!) so I’ll update after that. I’m not feeling very hopeful right now though Sad

Hope you're OK, OP Smile

beepthemeep · 19/02/2018 19:27

Thinking of you both, Op and Elton. Fingers crossed it's absolutely nothing.

flumpybear · 19/02/2018 19:40

Good luck tomorrow Smile
Just remember it's probably nothing

flumpybear · 19/02/2018 19:41

Wink

flumpybear · 19/02/2018 19:42

How did you get on Elton? Hope alls good

Mummybo88 · 19/02/2018 21:14

Thanks everyone. Elton, I hope you’re doing okay.

Happyland88 · 20/02/2018 18:28

I’ve seen the GP and she has referred me. I’m absolutely petrified.

Hi happyland
You have done the right thing and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Did your GP seem to express any concers?
From experience, try not to worry as I caused physical symptoms after I was refered and my doc said these were psychosomatic.

Happyland88 · 20/02/2018 18:51

Well I’ve now got 3 lumps, a nipple which has cracked twice in the past 6 months and some discharge from my nipple. The doctor was very much saying that the symptoms were such that I need an urgent referral. She seemed concerned.

Gottagetmoving · 20/02/2018 19:07

I hope all goes well OP.

LizzieSiddal · 20/02/2018 19:11

An “urgent referral” means you don’t have to wait more than two weeks and everyone referred for a breast lump is referred as “urgent”. So don’t let that bit concern you.

Happyland88 · 20/02/2018 19:59

Thanks :)

Stay strong.

Footle · 22/02/2018 09:03

Have you got your clinic appt date yet?

Happyland88 · 22/02/2018 09:42

Yes, I’ve got an appointment through. 5th of March. The wait is agonising but I’m trying to stay positive and keep away from google as I think that was making matters worse.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/02/2018 11:27

Happy, just to reassure you. I got my results last week. There is an issue and I need to have a D&C, but that’s all and it’s definitely not cancer. I had absolutely convinced myself it was going to be the worst news. I hope you get similar good news. All the best. Smile

Happyland88 · 22/02/2018 12:02

Thanks Eltonjohnssyrup, I appreciate that Smile
