It strikes me as so strange.

I just can't pin point what it is. Just seems so out of place in 2017 Confused And the furniture seems mostly naff 80s/90s!

AIBU?

Just to be clear (if you haven't yet seen it), it's on telly! Always comes on whilst I'm busy watching Emmerdale or something.

It's not some random YouTube ad Grin

The guy presenting is a bit stiff but other than that looks fine?

SandyBabyToes · 25/01/2018 20:40

Rogue does the furniture not strike you as odd?

iatethepies · 25/01/2018 20:40

Its just a very low budget/diy ad. The furniture and carpets are pretty grim though

SandyDenny · 25/01/2018 20:41

It's 2018 - have you lost a year Grin

It's aimed at older people I think?
My parents (late 70's) would watch it and jot down the address!

SandyBabyToes · 25/01/2018 20:42

Omg, so it is 2018 Grin

Sandy you're correct!

Ginkypig · 25/01/2018 20:42

It looks like any other furniture advert except for the fact that the person speaking sounds like a normal person and not like someone on acid. For tv he may sound a bit sedate though.

SandyBabyToes · 25/01/2018 20:44

Na Na Na, it's not just the gent talking.

It's the whole presentation of the ad. The furniture. The choice of lighting/use of camera.

All has a very dated feel, don't you think? Blush

Why would a 2016/17 advert be on TV now?

UpstartCrow · 25/01/2018 20:45

I dont think his cuffs are actually attached to his shirt. Maybe someone should check his back and look for a mind control symbiote?

SandyBabyToes · 25/01/2018 20:46

No idea Sandy But I promise you it is!

OP posts:
Mxyzptlk · 25/01/2018 20:51

Isn't it a year old?

Mxyzptlk · 25/01/2018 20:52

I think it's aimed at older people.

Mxyzptlk · 25/01/2018 20:53

(older people who maybe don't know what year it is)

Mxyzptlk · 25/01/2018 20:55

Came across this at the same time, tho.

I think they've taken their inspiration from the tv ads Jimmy McGill makes in Better Call Saul Grin

Rents · 25/01/2018 21:02

It's positively futuristic compared to this local hero....

pinkmagic1 · 25/01/2018 21:02

I think it's low budget as it's a local company rather than a big chain like scs. The products are geared towards the older generation.

PinkBuffalo · 25/01/2018 21:02

We got our sofa from there lol. To be fair, it's not pretty but it's the comfiest sofa ever and still going strong all these years later. They are expensive shop, but got ours in the sale & more money off as only the display one was left.
It's been the best sofa ever, but yes, not pretty which doesn't bother me.
