To expect NOT to have a hangover after 2 glasses of wine.

Why does just 2 glasses of poxy wine make me feel like shit the morning after?

It's not right and it's not fair, I wasn't even drunk.

Thank you.

My solution to this problem is to drink vodka

shonaspurtle · 28/04/2007 10:42

I had ONE can of lager last night after ds went to bed. My first in over a year and I felt a bit dodgy this morning .

I thought all that resting my liver had been doing would have made me less prone to hangovers but obviously not.

colditz · 28/04/2007 10:42

haaahaaaaa!

I had 2 glasses olast night, had a brilliant night's sleep and no hangover, up at 6.45 with the DCs!

obimomkanobi · 28/04/2007 10:45

Colditz, it'll creep up on you later and I'll be the one laughing then. Mwhahahaha!

Shona, I feel your pain.

Knayedfrot, it's too early for Vodka...isn't it?

Seriously, I have stopped drinking wine, I only have to have 2 glasses to get a banging hangover, even if I take nurofen before I go to bed. Very disappointing but i reckon there is something in it that doesn;t agree with me.

I don;t drink at all at home now really but when I go out stick to a couple(ish) of vodka & lemonade or smirnoff ice, and never feel hungover

noddyholder · 28/04/2007 10:49

I am the same today 2 glasses and i feel rubbish!

MadeForIt · 28/04/2007 10:52

yep same here, even after 2 pints of water...

WendyWeber · 28/04/2007 11:00

You didn't have a Chinese as well, did you?

MadeForIt · 28/04/2007 11:01

Oh my days wendy, how would you know such things?

marthamoo · 28/04/2007 11:21

It's not fair is it - 2 glasses is hardly painting the town red, but I have a hangover after just a couple of glasses these days.

Haven't had a drink for 2 months though so am just generally knackered rather than knackered and hungover.

J20BABY · 28/04/2007 11:36

i read somewhere that the sulphites in wine make your hangover worse than if you'd drunk a different alcoholic beverage. they are trying to reduce the sulphites apparantly, so maybe vodka or gin would be better, or even a nice bottle of J20

colditz · 28/04/2007 11:44

Yeah, you wish

It won't you know.

FirstAtForty · 28/04/2007 11:56

Not unreasonable at all. You have to be careful with those pint glasses mind.

WendyWeber · 28/04/2007 12:13

Not sure if you're teasing, Madeforit, but Chinese food makes you sleep badly and gives awful hangovers (it's the MSG I think)

moondog · 28/04/2007 12:17

i'M THE SAME,ONLY AFTER THREE.
If I have more than that I have dreadful disturbed nights to.
I can't believe it-I used to be able to drink anyone under the table.

hippipotami · 28/04/2007 13:33

I have been the same for the past few months. Have had to cut out wine alltogether now.

It was not just wine though, even one half of lager would lead to a hangover the following morning.

Have cut alcohol out alltogether now (well, it has lasted 15 days so far...)

LazyLineThreadKiller · 28/04/2007 13:53

You are less likely to get a hangover with white rather than red wine...

WendyWeber · 28/04/2007 14:24

I only drink red and find I'm more likely to get a hangover with French than with New World

susie40 · 28/04/2007 19:15

I find it depends whether I drink on an empty stomach or not. I'm fine with 2 glasses of wine if it's one with and one after dinner, and not fine if it's one before and one with. And DEFFO not fine if the second glass is instead of dinner lol.

pointydog · 28/04/2007 19:28

agree with frot. Spirits much less likely to result in hangover

obimomkanobi · 28/04/2007 20:03

In the interests of research I am going to have 2 bottles of smirnoff ice. Although I might go mad and have 3.

I'll update with my morning feeling-shite-o-meter tomorrow.

no wendy i did not know that! Havent learnt a thing... having a tipple tonite toooo!

obimomkanobi · 29/04/2007 08:08

I had 3 bottles of smirnoff ice and was up at 7 feeling fine.

I have concluded that I have a wine intolerance. I thought I might see my GP and get referred for testing...you know where they give you different kinds of wine to see which one makes you ill.
And then I'll wear a special bracelet or necklace so that if I am ever taken ill suddenly or incapacitated, people will know not to give me cheap Rosé wine.

obi, I salute you

saltire · 29/04/2007 11:29

I used to get hellish headaches after a glass or two of wine, but only occasionally. I worked out though that the week before my AF was due was the week i couldn't take wine.
