As above (at the risk of sounding tin foil hat) and if we're not, what the hell is going on in the world, what's causing it?

By your reckoning, Mandela should never have been supported. No sanctions to SA

I didn't say anything about sanctions, which I think are a very effective use of pressure. The equivalent though would have been the US staging a coup in SA and sending the marines in to spring Nelson from Robben Island.

The case of SA is actually further proof that diplomacy is a better way of solving problems that military action. Which is kind of my point. We're not going to have WW3. There is a lot of diplomatic brinksmanship going on, but that's all it is.

Lweji · 22/01/2018 17:30

How is supporting the same as imposing?

And how do you get ISIS there? Please explain.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 17:40

And how do you get ISIS there? Please explain.

Because when the fighting started in Syria everybody said how wonderful it was that they were fighting for democracy and the US started pumping money and arms in there and then ISIS rocked up to the party and took the money and the arms. And then people realised it might have been a bit of a bad idea to pump money and arms into an unstable area. Because they have a tendency not to turn into peace loving democracy's but the exact opposite. Vacuums get filled.

Eltonjohnssyrup Will I also get supplies for free as and when needed? Will I have been housed for free and able to have my elder child with me? I had to move from where I live to be near the hospital that does transplants. I couldn’t have flown to Germany. If you mean if I lived there can I get healthcare if I do not work? I couldn’t see much information on the link. Think you have to subscribe and I can’t afford that.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 18:08

No, Quack clearly I meant that other countries have better health systems which we could copy here.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 18:09

And yes, to answer your question. Germany and France have universal cover for their citizens.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 22/01/2018 18:21

Oh, yeah I agree that some other countries have much better health care. I’m just thankful I’m somewhere that doesn’t treat you if you don’t have insurance or unable to pay. Like my daughter who is on medication now lifelong. If she was in America a loss of job means no medication. It’s scary.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 22/01/2018 18:38

I meant, somewhere that does treat you even if you have no insurance or any way to pay.

LemonysSnicket · 22/01/2018 19:11

The internet means we can see EVERYTHING rather than what’s in newspapers or known by our neighbours

LemonysSnicket · 22/01/2018 19:12

Aka we are globalised via the internet and everything , even our private lives, feels monitored.
I’m 22 I’ve never really experienced anything in a different way.

wakemeupbefore · 22/01/2018 19:12

OP is an excellent example why we need Darwin Awards Halo

sall74 · 22/01/2018 19:22

Throughout the West we live in a corporatocracy/oligarchy, governance by the rich, of the rich for the rich. Our so called right to democratically vote in or out any particular party is just a sham, an illusion of political choice.
More than any other time in history the banks, the corporations and the wealthy elite have the general population right where they want them, as compliant, obedient little debt slave worker drones.

Give them bread and circuses....

NameChanger22 · 22/01/2018 19:35

OP clearly needs support for MH issues, why is everyone blathering on about chemtrails and other crap?

Are you a doctor? Are you really saying that anyone who believes a conspiracy theory, or something different to you is mentally ill? By your logic that would make 99.9% of the population mentally ill.

Falmer · 22/01/2018 19:40

I've been reading with interest. No, I don't have mh issues thanksSmile Thought that was funny!

Well, to be fair, presumably there are still 3 years of Trump. Who knows?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 19:47

I’m just thankful I’m somewhere that doesn’t treat you if you don’t have insurance or unable to pay.

Absolutely agree with you there. I would never advocate a healthcare system which wasn't universal for citizens. But there are better healthcare systems which cost less but have better outcomes. European countries manage to do it and we should too. We're not getting the value we should for what we pay for. And the wrong people are being paid too much money. We pay hundreds of thousands to people who push paper around and millions on overpriced procurement but underpay nurses who make sacrifices in their family lives to work all night cleaning up our poop and vomit and making sure we're not about to die.

*Are you a doctor?

Yes. Not a medical one though.*

Well try and refrain from giving a complex medical diagnosis over the internet to a person you've never met whilst having nothing concrete to base your nonsense on. I'd trust a witch doctor over you.

Falmer · 22/01/2018 19:48

Sorry, not that it's funny to have mh issues at all. Just funny that pp thinks I have, just for questioning conspiracies.

It seems to be the default insult to anyone who dislikes your opinion these days. I've had it a lot on here.
