I just love going away and have really loved most places. One place in particular really Underwhelmed me...Gibraltar...just like Britain in the sun! I'm sure it has so much to offer, but I couldn't wait to cross the border back to Spain!

Agree re Paris, Barcelona and Dublin. I am good g back to Paris in a couple of months and am really not keen.

And yes re the Severn Bore. I saw it a couple of times. Apparently.

Wincarnis · 20/01/2018 21:43

Hong Kong. Filthy streets, rude people and don’t get me started on the animal cruelty in the markets.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 20/01/2018 21:43

Vienna. Gave me a very odd, feeling - dull, grey, drab - and very grim.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 20/01/2018 21:44

Ilfracombe. I’ve been there 4 times spaced about 10 years apart each time. The second and third times I thought it must have improved, but no. Last summer I went for the 4th time. Nope. Still dire, in fact even more run-down than before.

NotAgainYoda · 20/01/2018 21:44

Also Dublin. It's just OK

Apart from the Art Gallery, which was lovely

AntArcticFox · 20/01/2018 21:45

MrPeevley, I was lucky enough to walk through Winchcombe on the Cotswold Way: that trip is one of my favourite memories! We had fair weather which always helps!

BarbarianMum · 20/01/2018 21:45

Scarborough
Gibraltar
Malta
Santiago de Compostela

Fosterdog123 · 20/01/2018 21:45

I've been underwhelmed by whole countries and simply written them off! Japan, Australia and the Caribbean to name 3!

MsHarry · 20/01/2018 21:45

Really underwhelmed by New York.

Why? I've always wanted to go.

wisterialanes · 20/01/2018 21:45

Was in Edinburgh for the day once and couldn't get into a single shop with the double buggy. I was irrate about it and never been tempted to go back.

kokosnuss · 20/01/2018 21:46

Loved Granada, but the Alhambra totally underwhelmed me. Some foreign countries don't seem to make any effort to make an attraction out of their historical sites - it was just an old building. A very beautiful one, but no real effort to give you an insight into who lived there, what their lives would have been like, what it might have looked like in its heyday, etc.

What I learn every time I go abroad is that the UK does tourist attractions really well.

LaurieMarlow · 20/01/2018 21:46

Venice. Crowded beyond belief, nothing actually happening beyond serving the tourists. If felt like a dead, open air museum.

Thistlebelle · 20/01/2018 21:47

I enjoyed Stonehenge, I thought they’d really improved things last time we were there.

Venice is lovely but not in summer time.

TalkinPeace · 20/01/2018 21:47

Sistine Chapel
been twice - utterly underwhelmed both times

Stonehenge
if you are local, go at the Winter Solstice : the stones are open and
THEN you will get it
because inside the circle in the half light is utterly
just utterly

londonrach · 20/01/2018 21:47

Kensingham palace...so glad we paid with tesco vouchers. Waste of money!

MsHarry · 20/01/2018 21:48

This thread is refreshing. I haven't travelled the world but I think I'm quite fussy about places and don't believe the hype. NY is on my list though so keen to know why it's not so good as heard so much good stuff.

papayasareyum · 20/01/2018 21:48

I can’t believe someone said they hated Cornwall! It’s the most gorgeous place on earth!

MajesticWhine · 20/01/2018 21:48

All of the USA. Probably being unreasonable but not bothered about any of it.

LegallyBrunet · 20/01/2018 21:48

To the PP that said Vancouver, why? I've always wanted to go there!

Watto1 · 20/01/2018 21:48

I was disappointed by the Golden Gate Bridge. I thought "Is that it?" I think being able to see the Humber Bridge out of my bedroom window at home spoiled me!

I wasn't impressed by Amsterdam either.

user1490465531 · 20/01/2018 21:49

Edinburgh.

Bearbehind · 20/01/2018 21:49

Las Vegas.

Tacky, naff and hasn't been updated for at least 25 years.

IncidentalAnarchist · 20/01/2018 21:49

Zanzibar

brizzledrizzle · 20/01/2018 21:49

We liked Pompeii but we visited it independent so avoided being herded round. Like PPs, Herculaneum was much better.

blackice · 20/01/2018 21:49
